Description
Photogare
Yves Burdet was born on September 4, 1959.
He discovered photography at the age of 10 thanks to a small Pocket Kodak. Fascinated by the magic of images inscribed with light, he wanted to know more, he wanted to progress in his knowledge of this means of expression. One day, while rummaging in the cellar, he discovered an old Rolleiflex and a black-and-white laboratory that his father had put away. Already a do-it-yourselfer at heart, he salvaged, dusted off and refurbished everything, and moved into the family bathroom to develop his photos. It was the birth of a vocation and the beginning of a long and rich professional career. A few years later, he met photographer Oscar Strimmer, based on Rue de la Gare in Morges. It was he who explained all the tricks of the trade to Yves. In those days, you made your own developer and fixer. After a few years working with Mr. Strimmer and training at a school in Munich, Yves took over the business in 1983, which would henceforth be called Photo Gare-Morges. And for almost 30 years, he has been THE Morges photographer!
Of course, he's kept up with the evolution of techniques and moved on to silver color, then today to the world of computers, but he still often works with the old processes. Yves Burdet is also a trainer and expert responsible for the final apprenticeship examinations for photography specialists. He is also a lecturer at the Vevey School of Photography.
