CREMATION

Cremation is a funeral technique aimed at burning and reducing to ashes the body of a dead human being. The ashes can then be:

taken back by the family to be kept at home, buried or poured into a private place

taken to a cemetery to be interred in an existing grave, interred in a new cinerary grave by the line or concession, deposited in a columbarium or poured into a collective vault (memorial garden)

transferred abroad.

INHUMATION

Inhumation is a funeral rite consisting of the burial of the coffin containing the body of a human being, in the ground or in a converted vault, in a cemetery. Graves can be:

à la ligne (free, minimum 30 years)
concession (paying, minimum 30 years)
caveau (paying, minimum 30 years, rare).
