L'Aubier – Contacts & Location
Description
L'Aubier
In the heart of Neuchâtel's old town and its pedestrian zone, an organic café-hotel, a pretty terrace and nine rooms...
Whether you're a regular in town or simply passing through, whether you have five minutes for a coffee or a little more time for a light meal, let yourself be charmed by the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of our Café!
Opened in 2001 on one of the prettiest squares in the old town, our café is housed in a magnificent 2-storey house, with a balcony overlooking the Banneret fountain.
You'll find... good coffee roasted on the premises and the smell of croissants in the morning. Lovely salads, fougasses with melting cheese, tartines and soups at lunchtime. Homemade cakes and ice creams in the afternoon...
In winter, you'll be happily sipping hot syrup, and in summer the glass wall opens out onto the square, allowing you to sample a homemade frappé while experiencing first-hand a charming corner of the old town.
Our dynamic team is already looking forward to welcoming you there!
PS: Just like everywhere else at L'AUBIER, all in organic quality, of course!
If you're in the mood for a city break, our Café-Hôtel on one of the prettiest squares in the old town is exactly what you need!
Our nine rooms are located on the 4 floors above the Café. Simple and charming, they will welcome you to the heart of the old town for one or more nights. Each room has its own bright, colorful style. Three rooms have a small bathroom with shower. The others have just a washbasin; toilets and showers are on each floor.
The Café team takes care of reception until 7:00 pm. Saturday until 6.00 pm. We would be grateful if you could plan your arrival within the Café's opening hours.
Every Monday morning, the coffee beans are carefully roasted on site, giving off an unmistakable scent of fresh coffee.
Our coffee comes from Chiapas in the Mexican Cordillera, where for over 60 years pioneers have been growing bio-dynamic coffee (the same method used on the L'AUBIER farm). It is grown with great care by the Finca Irlanda cooperative, which has been Demeter-certified since 1967!
Bio-dynamic cultivation promotes healthy development of the coffee bushes, resulting in a highly aromatic coffee. The plantation has been set up on rather uneven but highly fertile soils of volcanic origin. After harvesting by hand, the coffee beans are washed and then dried in the sun, before being sorted by hand. Many families work and live on the plantation all year round.
Fair trade has been practiced from the outset. As a result, villages have gradually sprung up, enabling the construction of kindergartens, schools and dispensaries to provide the indigenous population with education and healthcare. The foundation also aims to encourage good social practice by other companies in the region, by setting an example.
The plantation is also home to 8 species of endangered birds, which the Finca's founding family strives to protect through its foundation.
Enjoy all this when you drink a coffee in Neuchâtel or Montezillon.
