Wasserkraftwerk Gösgen is one of the largest and most powerful run-of-river hydroelectric plants on the Aare river. Built in 1917 and completely renewed between 1997 and 2000, it now produces 12% more electricity with the same water volume. The plant features five Kaplan turbines and an average annual production of 300 GWh.
