Description
WINERY PETER ZIMMERMANN IN OBERFLACHS
Aargau wines from the Schenkenberg Valley
Our company
One of the oldest wine-growing regions in German-speaking Switzerland is located in the historic Schenkenberg Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys on the southern foot of the Jura. A fantastic and extremely conveniently located local recreation area. Viticulture has a long tradition here and is firmly anchored in the landscape. Our 4-hectare wine-growing business is located in this fantastic setting, based in the wine-growing village of Oberflachs (municipality of Schinznach).
Our vineyards
In Oberflachs and in the neighboring village of Thalheim, we cultivate our vines in prime locations according to the principle of near-natural cultivation. We promote biodiversity with targeted measures. Soil herbicides and insecticides have not been used for a long time. We practice minimal plant protection through optimized vine care. Targeted soil cultivation gives us a species-rich natural meadow in the vineyard. Our own high guidelines for near-natural cultivation stand for guaranteed quality both in the vineyard and when selecting the grapes.
Our own wine press
We have been pressing our own varietal wines since the 1991 wine year and in the fall of 2003 we were able to put our new wine press into operation. Our aim is to produce high quality wines in harmony with nature. Both modern and traditional techniques characterize the vinification and ageing of our wines. Even during the transportation and pressing of the grapes, great importance is attached to gentle processing. Each grape variety is considered individually and processed differently.
