EYE ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture 2000: 70% success rate
Acupuncture and the eyes
Traditional Chinese medicine offers ophthalmic medicine a complementary and preventive therapeutic approach. Eye diseases are not based solely on local symptoms and signs, but on syndromes involving the entire body.
There are numerous scientific studies demonstrating the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating eye conditions such as inflammation, eye allergies, dry eyes, ophthalmic migraines, and intraocular pressure disorders (glaucoma).
Eye disorders can have various causes: poor management of emotions (sadness and/or anger, anxiety, stress, etc.), inadequate diet, lack of nutrients (nutritional advice will be given at the clinic). The eyes are the main victims of technology; spending more than 6 hours a day in front of a screen tires them considerably. It is important to give them a break by massaging them: immediate relief, relaxation, improved energy circulation, and vision. This technique will be taught to you at the office.
PRICE: CHF 160 for a 2-hour session with a break.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chronic eye diseases
There are nearly 10,000 of them! Each one can be treated using the method developed by Prof. John Boel, which I practice at the clinic. More than 20 years ago, Prof. John Boel, a Danish naturopath, developed an acupuncture method specifically designed for eye diseases, combining elements of classical Chinese acupuncture with other micro-acupuncture systems.
The eye acupuncture points are located on the face, hands, and feet. There are no punctures in the eyes!
Alongside this treatment, it is advisable to change your diet to relieve the liver and kidneys.
- What is acupuncture?
It is a therapeutic method that considers the human being as a whole and in relation to the cosmic environment (seasons, climates, temperature, etc.).
The ideograms relating to acupuncture mean "method of needles and fire," so the technique consists of pricking and/or heating specific areas of the body in order to cure or improve many diseases.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM ACUPUNCTURE?
Any "illness" is the manifestation of an energy imbalance. The patients who come to us fall into three categories:
- those who do not feel well, without any apparent symptoms,
- those who present with a number of symptoms without any alteration in their general condition,
- patients who present both disturbances in their general condition and disorders that are the manifestation of energy imbalance.
Energy balance
What is the origin of energy imbalances?
- heredity,
- certain vaccinations,
- drug intoxication,
- physical or psychological trauma,
- poor lifestyle choices,
- poor air quality,
- environmental stressors.
How does an acupuncturist perceive energy imbalance?
In addition to taking the pulse, Chinese clinical examination involves certain procedures that can be summarized as follows
- seeing
- listening and smelling
- question
- palpating certain areas of the body.
This allows visible and invisible signs of energy imbalance to be classified according to the concepts of YIN/YANG and the law of the five elements, which is known as the ENERGY BALANCE.
How can energy balance be restored?
Acupuncture does not provide energy, it channels, mobilizes, energizes, or slows down YOUR OWN ENERGY.
Depending on the nature of the imbalance, we act on points that have a specific effect on certain qualities of energy or that allow adaptation to a particular season.
WHAT PROCEDURES ARE USED?
Puncture (needles), moxibustion, cupping, and tuina (Chinese massage).
CAN ACUPUNCTURE CURE EVERYTHING?
To quote Dr. VAN NGHI:
"In an infectious disease, the penetration of a microorganism will be considered secondary. The real cause is prior: a weakness in the person's energy that allowed the organism to be attacked."
The role of acupuncture is to strengthen the body's natural defenses in order to create an environment that is unfavorable to the development of germs.
Certain serious microbial conditions require the use of medication, but should be treated in parallel with acupuncture because, as the Chinese proverb says:
"Killing the intruder is not the same as closing the door."
Needles, on the other hand, aim to close it by rebalancing the subject.
ABOUT SOME INDICATIONS FOR ACUPUNCTURE
Traditional acupuncture is above all a PREVENTIVE technique for all disorders related to poor lifestyle choices. It is recommended for:
- to maintain good health,
- to rebalance a subject at the first signs of DISCOMFORT,
- to help a patient regain good health, in parallel with conventional medical treatment for a non-lesional disease, to provide, in the case of a lesional disease, in parallel with medical treatment, the comfort of increased relief from the symptoms from which the patient suffers.
As part of a healthy lifestyle, acupuncture helps to:
- monitor pregnancy, vomiting, prepare a healthy immune system for the unborn child, and address breastfeeding issues.
- assist a person with all types of withdrawal: diet, tobacco, drugs, medication, etc.
- increase the effectiveness of cellulite treatments,
- preventive flu treatment,
- prevent numerous allergies (hay fever, sun allergies, etc.)
- accelerating recovery processes after serious events: accidents, operations, difficult childbirth, etc.
- nighttime snoring,
- nervous tension, stress, anxiety,
- sleep,
- emotional and mental balance,
- school problems: lack of concentration, fatigue, memory exam preparation (stress, anxiety, etc.)
- highly effective "sports doping,"
- menopausal disorders: prevention of premature aging and demineralization + +,
- all forms of fatigue
But also in parallel with medical treatment:
- significantly accelerates healing time for fractures, burns, wounds, sprains, joint pain, neck pain, back pain, lower back pain, muscle tears, etc.
- respiratory and skin diseases,
- blood circulation
- menstrual cycle disorders.
All of the above are indicative and not exhaustive.
ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS TO ACUPUNCTURE?
Of course, all therapies have their limits, and it is impossible to imagine that such an ancient form of medicine would not have any contraindications.
In general, acupuncture cannot be used (as the main treatment) for diseases with irreversible lesions.
In cases of trauma, such as fractures or dislocations, it can accelerate the healing process and reduce pain.
Disorders due to hereditary or congenital factors can never be completely resolved.
Severe energy deficiencies, such as malnutrition, are not within its scope of action.
Contraindications to treatment include:
- emaciated individuals or those in a state of physical decline,
- after significant bleeding,
- after profuse sweating (sauna, exertion, etc.),
- after severe diarrhea,
- after childbirth, if there has been significant blood loss,
- during a high fever with a calm pulse,
- after sexual intercourse (also avoid sexual intercourse in the hours following the session),
- during intense anger,
- during intense thirst,
- after a long journey,
- after intense fear,
- after a blood transfusion or blood donation.
Most of these contraindications are temporary, lasting from a few hours to a few days.
It should be noted that hormonal products, while not a contraindication to acupuncture, often reduce its effectiveness and that it often takes several weeks after stopping treatment to be able to mobilize energy normally.
HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?
The duration of a session depends on:
- the patient's condition
- their reactions to the puncture
Price: First session: $150, then $130
HOW OFTEN ARE SESSIONS HELD?
An acupuncture session has an immediate effect, which may only be perceived by the acupuncturist in terms of changes in the pulse.
The interval between sessions corresponds to the period during which the effects of the puncture continue to manifest themselves.
In most cases, one session per week or every two weeks is sufficient. The interval may be longer. The interval between sessions may vary for the same patient as their condition changes. In acute cases, it may be necessary to have several sessions per week or even per day.
ARE THERE ANY REACTIONS TO THE SESSION?
In most cases, the patient feels little or no reaction immediately after the puncture. Their energies are rebalanced gently, imperceptibly, but surely.
In some cases, patients may experience various reactions such as immediate relief, deep relaxation, a temporary increase in symptoms, or fatigue.
This last reaction is simply the result of the energy work and is nothing to worry about. You should inform your practitioner, who will assess its significance.
HOW MANY SESSIONS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR TREATMENT?
When the individual is under constant stress, whether psychological or due to air pollution, noise, poor diet, or excessive medication, the treatment will take longer.
When one of these nuisances cannot be avoided, acupuncture, by harmonizing the patient's energies, allows them to gradually respond with the best possible defenses.
When the imbalance is hereditary, treatment is long, but it gradually allows the patient to make the best use of the resources available to them.
The number of sessions cannot be determined in advance. The success of acupuncture treatment depends on many variables: the importance and nature of the external or internal cause of the energy imbalance, the importance of the hereditary factor, but also the entire cosmic environment, whether favorable or not, at a given moment, to the positive evolution of a pathology. Finally, it depends on the patient's energy resources at the time they come to see us and on their own efforts to establish the best possible lifestyle.
IS THE TREATMENT LASTING?
In most cases, energy regulation brings either a cure or a lasting improvement over time.
However, some chronic "illnesses" can only be improved temporarily.
In all cases, maintaining the improvement achieved depends on lifestyle, which is essential for staying healthy.
WHY ARE THE POINTS USED NOT ALWAYS THE SAME?
The patient's energy state evolves over the course of the sessions, and the choice of points to treat depends on this evolution.
In addition, certain points have a specific seasonal action, so the time of year determines the choice of certain points.
DOES ACUPUNCTURE HAVE A PREVENTATIVE ROLE?
Since taking the pulse allows any energy imbalance to be detected before symptoms appear, one of the roles of acupuncture is to treat any condition before it manifests itself.
It is therefore undoubtedly a preventive therapy.
CAN YOU TREAT SEASONAL DISORDERS?
In cases of chronic seasonal disorders, it is advisable for patients to consult their acupuncturist during the periods of the year that precede their onset. The practitioner knows how to determine these periods and can thus prevent the patient from experiencing the discomfort to which they were prone.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL ACUPUNCTURE AND WESTERN MEDICINE?
Acupuncture, a therapy dating back thousands of years, is based on the main principles of Chinese cosmogony:
- everything is energy,
- this energy animates the cosmos as a whole,
- every being is just a particular form of energy, and a person who is suffering is no longer in harmony with themselves or with the cosmos.
The traditional acupuncturist who lives by this "philosophy" reharmonizes man with the energies that surround him through the action of needles.
HE TREATS THE PERSON, NOT THE DISEASE.
Western medicine operates in a radically different way.
It identifies symptoms and groups them together under the term "disease." Its therapeutic action most often consists of eliminating the symptoms.
- Traditional acupuncture can be used as soon as the first energy disturbances appear (2) (when the body's energies are out of harmony), and only a traditional examination can reveal these disturbances. Western medicine cannot act because it does not observe symptoms.
- At a more advanced stage (3), with the body weakened by energy imbalances, stress can become a secondary factor.
The harm is then present; this is the "incubation" period.
Western medicine does not yet observe any symptoms and therefore cannot intervene.
However, in Traditional Acupuncture, there is already an energy imbalance and harmfulness is present.
- When symptoms appear (4), Western medicine begins to take action.
For acupuncture, this is actually the terminal stage of the condition.
At the symptom stage, the traditional acupuncturist will examine the patient to identify the causal energy imbalance and restore the energy balance, which will cause the symptom to disappear.
- At the lesion stage (5), acupuncture is less effective, but its action is far from negligible. It cannot be the main treatment.
When the traditional acupuncturist observes a state of energy balance (1) according to well-defined criteria, he or she can conclude that the patient is in good health.
In Western medicine, only the absence of symptoms allows such a conclusion to be made.
DO YOU HAVE TO BE A DOCTOR TO BE AN ACUPUNCTURIST? The quality of a traditional acupuncturist does not depend on their Western medical training, as only practitioners, whether doctors or not, who have received training enabling them to reason according to Chinese logic and to treat according to Chinese medical tradition can call themselves acupuncturists.
IS THERE SUCH A THING AS A DIAGNOSIS IN TRADITIONAL ACUPUNCTURE?
As we have already said, doctors of medicine make their diagnoses based on a series of symptoms that enable them to define the illness.
In Traditional Acupuncture, the diagnosis is an energy assessment that consists of evaluating the quantity and quality of all the patient's energies.
Chinese massage:
While being one of the therapeutic methods of Chinese medicine, traditional massage is also an autonomous discipline that can be used to treat a wide range of conditions and ailments.
Tuina encompasses a variety of techniques that can be applied to soft tissues as well as joints and organs.
Traditional Chinese massage is remarkably effective. It aims to restore mobility, reduce tissue tension, and improve the circulation of energy and fluids. Its indications, which go far beyond joint problems, are numerous in internal medicine.
From trauma care to stress and pain treatment, end-of-life care, preparation for athletes and pregnant women, and complementary treatment for certain major illnesses, Chinese manual medicine always offers those who suffer an effective and humane solution.
FACELIFT AND ACUPUNCTURE
Before undergoing a facelift, it is advisable to have two or three energy rebalancing sessions. Then have six to eight sessions once a week, preferably in spring and fall, followed by one to two sessions each season.
External factors contributing to skin aging:
- Wind: dryness;
- Heat: blood and body fluids;
- Cold: blood circulation;
- humidity: edema; chemicals (creams, lotions).
Internal factors
- diet;
- medications;
- stress;
- tobacco;
- alcohol.
Imbalances in the organs are reflected in the face
- the heart: complexion;
- the liver: blocked, saturated organ, disrupted blood circulation;
- the kidneys: manage bodily fluids;
- Stomach: the organ most affected by emotions, and imbalance in the spleen leads to rumination
- kidneys, large intestine, and liver: drainage functions.
Acupuncture facelifts restore the skin's suppleness, elasticity, tone, and radiance from the very first session.
Tuina (Chinese massage) performed before each session improves circulation and strengthens cellular nutrition. Vital energy will be better distributed.
In the worst case: stabilization of existing wrinkles
In most cases: prevention of emerging wrinkles, elimination of fine lines.
- - Organic vegetable oils used:
- Jojoba: its composition is similar to sebum and strengthens the hydrolipidic film
- Evening primrose: anti-aging
- Argan: restores elasticity
- Avocado: ideal for the eye contour, lips, and neck
- Borage: eczema, psoriasis, dry, devitalized, and tired skin
- Organic essential oils:
- geranium: wrinkles and rosacea
- Helichrysum: promotes circulation
- rockrose: firming
- Frankincense: anti-aging
- True lavender: regulates sebum and renews skin cells
- Organic hydrosols: lotions and toners tailored to the skin's needs (internal or external use)
Self-massage reduces tension and stiffness and slows down sagging of the facial contours. Nutritional advice and self-massage techniques will be provided during the first session.
By opting for acupuncture facelift, you will see results in your face and emotionally, as well as an improvement in your organ functions.
A tuina session is often complemented by acupuncture, cupping, and/or moxibustion treatments.
