Musée National Suisse

The Château de Prangins, built in the 18th century by Louis Guiguer, a Swiss banker living in Paris, is home to the Swiss National Museum's headquarters for French-speaking Switzerland. This prestigious residence has hosted illustrious guests including Voltaire and Joseph Bonaparte. The castle-museum captivates visitors with its classic architecture, endless suites, and beautiful French-style park. Permanent exhibitions include 'Noblesse oblige!' depicting 18th-century castle life, 'Indiennes: un tissu à la conquête du monde' on printed cotton fabrics, and 'Switzerland. What is it?' examining Swiss myths and daily life from the 18th century to present. The estate features the largest historical vegetable garden in Switzerland with nearly 200 species and varieties of old fruits, vegetables, flowers, condiments, and medicinal plants from the 18th century. The educational trail 'The Walk of Light' connects Prangins Castle with the La Lignière Estate, telling the story of Baron Louis-François Guiguer's barony.
