Pre-works asbestos survey

Buildings constructed before 1991 can potentially contain asbestos-containing materials. In addition, any mechanical handling such as sanding, drilling, milling, breaking or sawing can release significant quantities of asbestos fibers, thus constituting a health risk.

As a result, any work on materials likely to contain asbestos carries a risk of exposure for all those present on the worksite. In order to guarantee the health and safety of workers, the Ordinance on Construction Work (OTConst) requires that before any work is carried out on pre-1991 buildings, even on a small scale, an asbestos diagnosis must be carried out by a certified professional. 

This obligation applies regardless of the type of work, whether it requires prior authorization or not.
