DLC coating -   Diamond-Like-Carbon

Our DLC coating is deposited according to a patented low-temperature process (less than 100°C ): hardness up to 7000 HV, low coefficient of friction, high corrosion and wear resistance

Thanks to our patent, the thin DLC coating layer (0.2 to 1.5 microns) can be applied to most metallic materials and non-metallic materials such as PEEK.

The patented dropless® technology offers additional qualities: higher sp3 rates, hardness up to 7000 HV, lower roughness, more compact DLC layer. 

• Low deposition temperature. Deposition temperatures below 100°C due to our patented process.Our DLC can be deposited on almost any metallic and non-metallic materials such as silicone, glass, ceramics, polymers that withstand a temperature of 80-100°C
• Coating layer from 0.2 to 1.5 microns.The thin coating layer (0.2 to 1.5 microns) ensures precision and surface texture; we can achieve 15 microns thickness upon request.

Basic information on Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC)

DLC is amorphous carbon that has some of the valuable properties of diamond.
It is a thin carbon-based coating that can be applied to almost any vacuum-compatible material in which it is usually produced.
It has unique properties of natural diamond such as:

• Low coefficient of friction
• High hardness
• Chemical stability
• High corrosion resistance
• 100% biological compatibility

DLC exists in 7 different configurations of amorphous carbon; they differ in the content of sp3-hybridized carbon atoms.DLC coatings produced by Argor-Aljba's filtered arc PVD process are composed of balanced percentages of carbon, optimized according to the application fields.The remaining percentage of carbon enhances the sliding properties. 

The low deposition temperature of the patented process (below 100° C) ensures the consistency of the coating's properties during its application life. This is one of the USPs (unique selling proposition) of the Argor-Aljba coating process.

dialong® and dianoir® are obtained using an exclusive, internationally patented process that is based on the filtered arc PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process

In comparison with the CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process, our deposition takes place at a very low temperature (<100°C)
