EMS Schiers is a regional secondary school for pupils from Graubünden - in particular for Prättigau, Bündner Herrschaft, the Fünf Dörfer region and the greater Chur area. Young people from other regions and cantons are also very welcome.

EMS Schiers offers a long and a short-term grammar school, the bilingual German/English Matura, a music grammar school, the technical middle school, the specialist Matura course in education and the cantonal preliminary course for admission to the University of Teacher Education Graubünden. The Gymnasium leads to the Matura and thus to the right to study at all Swiss universities.

In addition to the secondary school, the Heureka (competence center for the promotion of special talents) is also part of EMS Schiers. This program is aimed at primary school children who are temporarily underchallenged in regular classes and require special challenges due to their intellectual talents.

EMS Schiers also operates a public library and a public swimming pool. The latter is currently being renovated and will remain closed for the 2024 season (possibly also 2025).
