Restaurant Alpenrose

The Alpenrose was built in 1862 as a hotel/restaurant, making it the first and oldest guesthouse in Sils-Maria.

Friedrich Nietzsche, the great philosopher, used to dine at the Stüva Alpenrose almost every day. In the 1960s, the building fell victim to speculators. As a result, the hotel and restaurant were closed.
 
In 1999, the building was largely demolished and rebuilt, but no longer as a hotel, but as a residence with condominiums. The requirement of the municipality of Sils was that a restaurant had to be integrated into the building!

Our family has owned the Alpenrose restaurant since 2010. I developed a love of cooking in my parents' house, the Hotel Sonne Fex.

My passion to learn more took me to various establishments, including an apprenticeship at the Hotel Suvrettahouse St. Moritz, followed by Villa Principe Leopoldo Lugano, Sonnenberg Zurich with Jacky Donatz, Riffelalp Zermatt, sous chef at Palafitte Neuchatel, and head chef at the Gangehi Resort in the Maldives, Mathis Food, St. Moritz.
