FMV is a company active in the electricity sector. It is based in Switzerland, in the canton of Valais.

Geographically located at the heart of the Alps' water tower, in the upper Rhône valley, FMV's core business is the production of electricity using hydraulic power. It transmits and markets the electricity thus produced to its various customers, who are major consumers.

From a legal standpoint, FMV is a semi-public limited company under private law. Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Sion, the company has a share capital of 100 million Swiss francs (approx. 60 million euros).

FMV's mission is to contribute to the development of the hydraulic assets of the Valais public authorities, the canton and the concession-granting communes, thanks to its expertise in concession returns and portfolio management, and to participate in the security of electricity supply in the Valais and Switzerland. In this way, it makes a concrete contribution to the harmonious development of the Valais economy.

Under the cantonal law LFMV, FMV is the umbrella organization for the canton's energy policy. Its shareholders are the canton of Valais, public communities and certain regional distributors.

Positioning

FMV is developing its activities around its three core businesses: electricity producer, transporter and trader. It also provides services in various sectors of the electrical industry.

Our generating facilities are based exclusively on hydraulic power. They are on a human scale, perfectly integrated into their natural environment. With our production from renewable sources, FMV makes a concrete contribution to preserving the environment.

As a transmission provider, FMV participates in the supraregional transmission of electricity (65-130 kV) through Valgrid SA.

In addition to the energy generated by its own production, FMV buys and sells electricity on the market. It therefore acts as a trader of the electricity produced to supply its customers, who are major consumers.

FMV works closely with most of the Swiss groups active in the electricity sector.
