FMV SA

FMV is a company operating in the electricity sector. It is based in Switzerland, in the canton of Valais.

Geographically located in the heart of the Alps' water tower, in the upper Rhône valley, FMV's core business is the production of electricity using hydropower. It transports and sells the electricity produced to its various customers, who are large consumers.

From a legal standpoint, FMV is a private limited company under private law. Founded in 1957, with its registered office in Sion, the company has a share capital of CHF 100 million (approx. €60 million).

FMV's mission is to help promote the hydroelectric assets of the Valais public authorities, the canton and the concessionary municipalities, thanks to its expertise in areas such as concession returns and portfolio management, and to contribute to the security of electricity supply in Valais and Switzerland. In this way, it plays a concrete role in the harmonious development of the Valais economy.

Under the cantonal LFMV law, FMV is the umbrella organization for cantonal energy policy. The canton of Valais, public communities, and certain regional distributors are its shareholders.

Positioning

FMV develops its activities around its three core businesses: electricity production, transmission, and trading. It also provides services in various sectors of the electricity industry.

Our production facilities exclusively use hydropower. They are designed on a human scale and are perfectly integrated into their natural environment. With our renewable energy production, FMV makes a concrete contribution to preserving the environment.

In its role as a transporter, FMV participates in the supraregional transmission of electricity (65-130 kV) through the company Valgrid SA.

In addition to the energy it produces itself, FMV buys and sells electricity on the market. It therefore acts as a trader in electricity to supply its customers, who are large consumers.

FMV works closely with most Swiss groups active in the electricity sector.
