A new Christmas market in Tavannes

To end the season on a high note, the now traditional vegetable market will take on a Christmas market feel on Saturday, November 4. The event, to be held at Place de la Gare, promises to be a festive affair.

From 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., it will be possible, one last time this year, to stock up on fruit and vegetables and farm produce. From 10 a.m., a variety of Christmas-themed craft and culinary stalls will set up in the square. Mulled wine and tea will also be served. From 11:30 a.m., the pompom will be serving pea soup.

Christmas is also a festive time for children, and they won't be left out, with the chance to make pretty baubles. At 1pm, they can enjoy a visit from clown Bobby, and at 3pm from Olaf ! The event ends at around 5 p.m.

Advent windows

As every year during the Advent period, the Local Life Commission invites the population to take turns illuminating homes, shops, businesses, schools or  government departments.

From December 1 to 23, passers-by will be invited to share mulled wine or tea, from 7 to 8 pm. Anyone interested in taking part in this initiative should register by November 17 mentioning the chosen date to the municipal secretariat by telephone on 032 482 60 43 or by e-mail at secretariat@tavannes.ch.

Varnishing of the book "Si Tavannes nous était conté"

The Municipality of Tavannes, Les Éditions Alphil, Mémoires d'Ici, Centre de recherche et de documentation du Jura bernois, the Tavannes Library and the Pierre-Pertuis bookshop are pleased to invite you to the vernissage of the book: Si Tavannes nous était conté. History of a village in pictures.

The event will take place on Wednesday November 1 at 7:00 pm at the Salle Communale de Tavannes (Rue du Foyer 1).

The book contains around a hundred old images of Tavannes from the Mémoires d'Ici collections, and is introduced by a text by Françoise Matthey. The photographs making up the book will be projected as a slideshow.

Competition for a position of social assistant, assistant to management (90-100%)

The Service social régional de Tavannes (SSRT) provides social services for 5  communes in the Tavannes Valley, as well as mandates issued by the Bernese Jura Child and Adult Protection Authority.

It invites applications for a position of social assistant, assistant to the director with an occupation rate of 90-100% for a start date of December 1, 2023, to be discussed.

Resignations from the City Council

On September 26, 2023, the Tavannes Municipal Council acknowledged the resignations of Nathalie Geiser, Angela Merlino, Laurent Möri and Patrick Buri.

The Municipal Council would like to thank them for their commitment to the village and its residents. The first to come forward will be contacted in order to re-fill the four seats as soon as possible. If not, an open ballot will be held as soon as possible. Municipal operations are assured during this interim period.

Tavannes organizes its decathlon

On Sunday, September 10, starting at 11am, the Orange plateau in Tavannes will come alive with the traditional decathlon. Games, entertainment and festive moments will be the order of the day.

The fruit of collaboration between the municipality's Local Life Commission and village companies, the decathlon is an opportunity for the population to compete in a variety of games and activities with family and friends. The principle is simple: collect as many points as possible by taking part in the activities organized by the companies. Numerous prizes await the winners.

Food service and musical entertainment will be provided to ensure a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.

The municipality hopes to see many of you at this great day of exchange announced.
