The Säntis - panoramic view over 6 countries

After just two years of construction, the dream becomes reality. On July 31, 1935, the suspension railroad up the Säntis was officially inaugurated. The two cabins carried 35 passengers each. 80 years have passed since that day and there have been many changes on Schwägalp and Säntis. The most recent major one is the realization of the Schwägalp project with the new day catering, seminar and banquet rooms and the hotel with 68 rooms.

The Säntis towers proudly over the Lake Constance region

The unforgettable ride on the cable car to the summit of the Säntis takes ten wonderful minutes. It is in operation all year round. People from all over the world meet in the weather-protected viewing halls, on the large sun terraces and comfortable summit paths. Two large panorama restaurants, stores and exhibitions welcome visitors with typical Appenzell hospitality. This includes unique offers such as romantic full moon trips, impressive sunrise trips and many attractive package deals.

Gastronomy and hotel on the Schwägalp

The Schwägalp also has a lot to offer in terms of gastronomy. In addition to the idyllic Appenzell-style Gasthaus Passhöhe, we also serve you in the Schwägalp restaurant with its wonderful sun terrace overlooking the imposing Säntis massif. Here we serve you typical dishes: traditions interpreted in a modern and fresh way.

"Säntis - the Hotel" Schwägalp - Uniquely inviting. Nestled in one of the most beautiful mountain backdrops in Europe, we opened the new hotel on Schwägalp with 68 rooms and junior suites in December 2015.

There are certainly many event venues. But very few can boast such an impressive backdrop as Säntis and Schwägalp. The possibilities for supporting programs are limitless, such as aperitif rides at the DrehBar in the panorama cabin, excursions in the nature adventure park, eventful hikes on the themed trails and many other exciting indoor and outdoor activities.

The spacious seminar and banquet rooms in the new hotel as well as the rooms on the Säntis offer the necessary peace and inspiration for your event in addition to the modern infrastructure and a special view.

The efficient gastronomy of the three well-kept houses on Säntis and Schwägalp is equipped for every occasion. The choice is wide - from simple menus and Appenzell specialties to gala dinners, there is something for every wish and every budget. This means you can choose from a wide range of modular options.

Hiking in the middle of the nature adventure park / Enjoying nature

The Säntis lies at the center of a wide network of hiking trails: a walk or a tour will take you through a region where Switzerland is still very pristine. The network of hiking trails is also maintained in winter and invites you to enjoy a personal winter wonderland.

The Schwägalp/Säntis Nature Adventure Park offers encounters with the nature, culture and traditions of this unique region. On the five exciting themed trails, a guidance system leads to all the sights; interesting places are informatively labeled. And right next to the hotel on the Schwägalp is the Geology Stone Park, where the history of the earth becomes an exciting adventure.
