Daily - and in emergencies around the clock!

All residents of the Canton of Berne who have a medically certified need can make use of nursing care services. The services are provided on the basis of a needs assessment documented in writing. If necessary, they supplement and support the care services provided by relatives.

SPITEX services are available in particular for:

• Sick, disabled, injured, convalescent, elderly and dying people
.
• People who are in a physical, psychological and/or social crisis or risk situation
.
• Women before or after the birth of a child.
• Families, relatives and other helping persons.

Clarification of needs and advice

We assess care and support needs on site. We provide advice on coping with everyday life, dealing with illness or disability, health promotion and health maintenance. We instruct you or your relatives on how to carry out care tasks or put you in touch with other relevant agencies.
We ensure that the needs assessment is signed by the attending doctor and forwarded to the health insurance company. If there is an increased need for care (60 hours or more per quarter), we request the necessary additional certificate from the attending physician.

Basic care

Help with getting up and going to bed, dressing and undressing, putting on support stockings, mobilization, personal hygiene, bathing, showering, maintaining mobility and good skin conditions, etc.

Treatment care

• Measurement of blood pressure, blood sugar
• Providing probes and catheters
• Providing and administering medication, e.g. also by injection
• Providing and administering nutrient solutions
• Administration and monitoring of infusions
• Rinsing, cleaning and treating wounds
• Nursing measures for bladder and bowel emptying disorders
• Medicinal baths, wraps and packs

24-hour emergency service

We provide our services seven days a week from 06:00 to 23:00. Outside of these hours, you can contact us at any time for nursing emergencies and we will be on site within an hour.

You can also make use of SPITEX care if you only live in the SPITEX Grauholz area temporarily, for example when visiting your relatives. Please note the following letter if your place of residence is outside the canton of Bern.
