WHAT IS PODIATRY?
Podiatry is the non-medical treatment of the foot.
Podiatrists identify foot problems and perform foot care treatments. Through proper diagnosis, therapeutic and rehabilitative treatment, the vitality of a healthy foot is maintained, preventing the threat of damage or eliminating damage that has already occurred. The most common foot problems, such as corns, calluses, nail fungus, calluses, and ingrown toenails, can be successfully treated with regular foot care.
High-risk patients such as diabetics, hemophiliacs, and rheumatics receive targeted treatment and care. This is done professionally in close cooperation with diabetologists, dermatologists, rheumatologists, and orthopedists.
Patients with diabetes mellitus are required to pay attention to their foot health because they often suffer from nail fungus, pressure points, and calluses, which can have serious consequences in the case of DFS (diabetic foot syndrome).
Podiatrists also perform very special treatment methods such as treatment using a nail correction brace (orthonyxia brace), the customization of orthotics (individually tailored to the patient, providing soothing pressure relief), and nail prosthetics (artificial nail replacement).
