Salzani. Here's a surname that smells of Italy, the Veneto region from which his father came, an immigrant from his native Verona in the canton of Fribourg to repair Swiss shoes. And he took a wife, a Gruyère woman to boot.

For over twenty-five years, Flaviano Salzani has populated his world with resolutely useless objects. At the origin, a piercing and critical look at this society that surrounds and envelops us, this society in which we liquefy and consume ourselves. From garbage tip to rubbish tip, he has traced his steps. This is my favorite store, my library," he says. In the midst of accumulated abandon, he finds symbols of a life that escapes him, traces of the human being he never tires of approaching before moving on. From four boards, he creates a tender, derisory image, a few graffiti later. A battery becomes a train, a cheese board a star.
