The 100-year history of Restaurant Thurberg

The Thurberg estate has been family-owned since 1898, and the restaurant has existed since 1910.

In 1898, farmer Julius Häberlin acquired the Thurberg vineyard estate in Heimen-Lachen. His son Ernst built the current buildings and restaurant, which opened in 1910.

In 1934, Franz and Olga Breitenmoser-Häberlin took over the estate. The Thurberg thus remained in the family.

From 1971, Hansruedi and Alice Breitenmoser-Hürlimann ran the house on the Thurberg. In 1973, a beautiful hall was added to the west and the terrace was renovated and extended.

Since 1992, Daniel and Jrene Franz-Breitenmoser have run the excursion restaurant, which they acquired in 1995.

The Thurberg is a worthwhile destination at any time of year. In winter, when the fog covers the Thur valley and the sun shines brightly on the Ottenberg. And even more so in summer, when the view sweeps over vineyards, green meadows and across to the Alpstein with the Säntis mountain.
