The waste incineration plant in Weinfelden has been recycling waste from Thurgau and neighboring countries for over 25 years - day in, day out, around the clock. After 35 to 40 years, waste incineration plants need to be comprehensively modernized. The Thurgau Waste Incineration Plant Association therefore considered the replacement of the plant in Weinfelden at an early stage. It plans to expand the replacement plant in Weinfelden into an energy hub in several stages. In this way, the waste incineration plant will make an important contribution to implementing the energy transition in Thurgau. A preliminary project is currently being drawn up. It will provide the basis for the credit decision, which the association municipalities are expected to make in 2023.
