Storage heaters and small wood-burning stoves have long been known as domestic heating systems. However, it was not possible to supply an entire detached house with sufficient heat with the technologies used to date. The decreasing heating requirements of modern single-family homes are making storage heaters increasingly attractive and popular.

Rapid development of new technologies

Thanks to the improved insulation of new buildings and today's opportunities to renovate old buildings to make them more energy-efficient, the heating requirements of single-family homes are constantly falling. And suddenly storage heaters are once again interesting and attractive as an alternative heating system. The storage stove, which spreads cozy warmth, as the center of the living space.

Absorber technology

The heat generated by burning logs is stored by the mass of the stove. It is released evenly into the environment over a longer period of time. Absorber technology makes it possible to heat a detached house exclusively with a storage stove. An additional absorber is installed between the fireclay core  and the casing.

The water that flows through the absorber is heated and fed into the heating pipe network. An absorber is a plate heat exchanger, which consists of a plate (aluminum, copper, etc.) with a tightly looped copper pipe firmly mounted on it. Water flows continuously through the copper tube. The tube is the actual heat exchanger. The copper plate serves to increase the surface area of the tube in order to extract as much heat as possible from the stove.

Company history

The Hafnerei Hügin is firmly anchored in the region. Thanks to Josef Hügin, who founded the business in Ettingen in 1966. 20 years later, his son Hanspeter successfully took over the reins and at the same time moved the company headquarters to the neighboring village of Witterswil for capacity reasons. Now it is the turn of the 3rd generation. In the summer of 2007, son Sascha successfully completed his 2nd apprenticeship as a stove fitter with a renowned tiled stove builder in the region. He has had his 1st qualification as an electrician in his pocket since 2000. This basic knowledge now serves him well in his work as a stove fitter.

The company's basic principle is: there is always a solution, everywhere. Working closely with a long list of architects, the company benefits from its keen sense of practicality. The exhibition at the company's headquarters at Bahnhofstrasse 9  in Witterswil impressively demonstrates the wide range of possibilities for optimally converting wood into warmth. It goes without saying that the latest and strictest provisions of the Clean Air Ordinance are the top priority.
