Municipality of Zofingen
Zofingen - Portrait of a town worth living in
In German-speaking Switzerland, Zofingen is known to many for its legendary Heitere Open Airs. With around 12,500 inhabitants and almost as many jobs, Zofingen is a lively small town in the westernmost tip of the Aargau. It is considered a regional center and an attractive business location with over 1,100 companies. Zofingen also has a lot to offer as a place to live: numerous green spaces, public playgrounds and the local recreation area Heitern, the best transport connections to the whole of Switzerland, a comprehensive educational and leisure activities and, last but not least, an attractive tax rate.
Zofingen's trademark is its old town. It is the largest preserved old town in the canton of Aargau and offers numerous sights. The rich history is tangible in many places in Zofingen - Zofingen cleverly combines dynamic development with living tradition. The Thut-Stadt was founded in 1201 and has had market rights for centuries. Mosaic floors of a manor house still bear witness to the settlement of the Romans.
The annual children's festival is also part of Zofingen's history. This event, known as the "most beautiful day of the year", has been delighting young and old for over 150 years.
