Vacations and cultural trips
Ferweh-Wege (Ferweh Ways) – this is the apt expression for how the adventure began in 1976. Back then, it was the islands of Malta and Ireland, but today we have added some more adventurous and unusual destinations – as well as a wide variety of travel options – to our range.
In 1986, we were one of the first tour operators worldwide to venture to Abu Dhabi, and so the Near and Middle East very quickly became our second home. Our pioneering spirit was very well received locally, and a very exciting, if not always easy, time began. Regional conflicts and armed disputes repeatedly dampened our enthusiasm; instead of a purple horizon, we saw a gloomy sunset and a deceptive dawn. Several times we had to start almost from scratch and rebuild many things. However, our first impressions remain unforgettable. Today, as then, we are convinced that genuine, honest encounters with people from a foreign culture are one of the most fascinating and profound experiences and, at the same time, the key to understanding other cultures.
That is precisely why we attach great importance to offering you the opportunity to interact with the people of these countries on our trips. It is also thanks to many small and large gestures of friendship that Holiday Maker Tours was able to obtain approval for its first group trips to remote regions. Just two years later, driven by a spirit of discovery, Iran was added in 1988 . The unique cultural and scenic highlights captivate every visitor. Millennia of history come to life when you stand in front of the magnificent testimonies of ancient Persian empires in Susa, Isfahan, and Persepolis.
Soon, new destinations were added alongside the United Arab Emirates and Iran, with the breakthrough coming in 1991 with the Sultanate of Oman. An extraordinary, diverse country with magnificent landscapes, ancient traditions, and an impressive cultural heritage.
In 1995 , Jordanwas added to the program. A country between deserts and wadis, surrounded by Crusader castles, bazaars, and royal sites, it offers experiences like something out of 1001 Nights and builds a "bridge" between the Orient and the Occident. Jordan is a crossroads between peoples and cultures, empires, and religions. We suffered a bitter setback with Yemen, Syria, and Libya, which we had to remove from the program with a heavy heart for security reasons. We are still fascinated by these countries and the memories they leave in our hearts.
In 2004 , Moroccowas added to our program. The four legendary royal cities—each more beautiful than the last—the picturesque Berber villages in the High Atlas Mountains, and the palm-fringed oases on the edge of the desert are the highlights and lasting experiences of this "land of contrasts."
Since 2005 , we have also been inviting you on trips to Central Asia, partly along the Silk Road: Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia allow you to slip back into glorious eras
and you will stand in awe of the magnificent architectural testimonies of that time. For the current catalogs, we have expanded our offerings in Central Asia to include Kyrgyzstan .
With the Maldives (2012), Mauritius, and the Seychelles (2014) , we have ventured into the Indian Ocean and can offer you beach vacations in a class of their own.
In addition, Holiday Maker Tours has been organizing trips in all directions for 40 years. We put together selected tours to exciting (even for us) new destinations outside "our regions" and guarantee first-class support and the best service through personal accompaniment by us.
Standing still is a step backwards. We have always remained true to this tradition and look forward to more exciting destinations, experiences, and stories that the future may bring.
We would be delighted to welcome you on one of our trips.
