Forefoot prostheses

The Bellmann forefoot prosthesis was developed by Dieter Bellmann at Balgrist University Hospital in Zurich. Since then, it has undergone several improvements. This type of forefoot prosthesis is so successful that it is even taught at the Europa Lehrstätte für Orthopädie und Rehabilitationstechnik (Bufa) in Dortmund.

The Bellmann forefoot prosthesis is characterized by the following points:

1. the upper and lower ankle joints remain free. This means that movement is not restricted by the prosthesis.
 
2. very comfortable to wear. The prosthesis is designed in such a way that natural force transmission takes place without pressure on the distal amputation surface. The targeted use of elastic and rigid materials ensures a precise fit during the entire stance and gait phase.
 
3. An exceptionally attractive appearance is achieved through individual shape grinding. Toes, toenails or simply a shoe-filling shape can be produced according to the customer's wishes.
 
4. Thanks to these properties, it is possible to wear the prosthesis in almost any shoe.
