His heart beats for high-rise buildings. Florian Voemel talks about the view from his former apartment in the Los Angeles skyscraper: from its twentieth-floor windows, the city took shape every morning at dusk and aged anew every day, until at night the skyline consisted only of the lights in the other skyscrapers, which slowly climbed down from above, tracing the path of the cleaning crews.
In Los Angeles, Voemel designed eighty-storey high vertical cities, and back in Zurich, miniature landscapes of rooms instead of street squares. However, his motivation remains the same: "I look for the greatest possible density in every approach, even in a detached house."
