Founded in 1976 by Michel Glardon, éditions d'en bas is a committed publishing house dedicated to documenting the social reality of the 'hidden face' of Switzerland. Focusing on testimonies, popular history, and social struggles, the publisher releases works that give a voice to the 'people from below'—workers, prisoners, and the marginalized. Following the passing of long-time director Jean Richard in 2025, the house is now led by a collective continuing its militant and independent tradition.
