Rheumatology
Rheumatism is a generic term for a variety of different diseases. What they all have in common is that pain occurs in the musculoskeletal system
The aim of treating rheumatic diseases in our rheumatology department in Aarau is to alleviate pain, prevent increasing damage/destruction of the joints and maintain physical functionality.
Early detection of rheumatic diseases is important. Interlocking forms of therapy can improve patients' quality of life in the long term.
Conservative pain therapy
The complete resolution of pain plays a fundamental role in a person's well-being - which is why conservative pain therapy is particularly important in my rheumatology practice in Aarau.
Many people suffering from pain need help and often doctors know no more than to prescribe medication for relief. In pain therapy, the causes of the pain are first examined, identified and narrowed down. Only then are various methods and techniques put together that lead to relief and, in the best case, complete resolution of the pain. This can be, for example, medication, joint injections, infusion treatments or treatment with physiotherapy, manual therapy or physical therapy.
Sports medicine
Sport has a positive influence on health, mood and well-being. To keep it that way, sports medicine care is of great relevance.
In my practice in Aarau, I look after amateur athletes as well as amateur and competitive athletes. I also work as a team doctor for FC Aarau.Sports medicine starts with prevention: avoiding sports injuries is therefore a priority. I will be happy to advise you on suitable sports for you. In the case of sports injuries, I will carry out a precise diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
Shock wave therapy
Shockwave therapy has established itself as an effective, gentle and outpatient therapy to treat rheumatic diseases, so-called tennis elbow or tennis elbow, calcific shoulder or plantar fasciitis.
The shock wave head is positioned at the relevant point and pulses of focused ultrasound waves are administered. Shock waves stimulate the tissue and thus develop their effectiveness. They stimulate complex processes that promote blood circulation and cell metabolism. Healing processes are promoted, pain is relieved and mobility is increased - the patient benefits in everyday life.
Treatment with shock wave therapy requires three to five sessions. These last around 15 minutes and should take place at weekly intervals.Autologous Conditioned Plasma (ACP)
Autologous Conditioned Plasma (ACP) is a form of autologous blood therapy to treat signs of joint wear and tear.
This involves taking blood from the patient, which is then processed in the laboratory so that only special, growth-promoting blood substances remain. This processed blood is rich in platelets and is called autologous conditioned plasma (ACP). This is injected into the affected joint and is intended to promote the regeneration of the cartilage tissue.
NSM neurostimulation
The basis of NSM neurostimulation is the control of the body's own electrical fields. Thin probes are placed on the diseased tissue for this purpose. These can be compared with the familiar acupuncture needles. Proteins and ions that promote inflammation are neutralized in this way. Cells that are needed for regeneration are transported to the right place and strengthen regeneration and healing
Aesthetic medicine
Cryolipolysis
Cryolipolysis is a gentle way to reduce fat. Even stubborn fat cells can be destroyed painlessly. This is because they are much more sensitive to cold than other tissue - cold can do what sport and diet cannot.
An applicator is used to suck in the fat and cool it down. Fat cells die off and are broken down by the body over time. The surrounding skin is protected by a special gel and the temperatures are closely monitored and regulated by the doctor.
