Welcome to Altstätten
Altstätten is located in the east of Switzerland, in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley. The historic market town has always been the center of the region with its cozy alleyways and picturesque houses. Altstätten combines urban and village advantages: a wide range of cultural activities and numerous shopping opportunities, surrounded by the generous natural surroundings of the extensive urban area. Around 150 clubs and traditions such as carnival and various markets contribute to making Altstätten a lively town. Around 12,000 inhabitants live in Altstätten.

In addition to the district court, the hospital and the regional prison, numerous other institutions of regional importance are located in the municipality, such as the vocational and further education center, vocational and career counseling, social services, addiction counseling, civil status office, examining magistrate's office, child and adult protection authority. The Rhyboot, Bild children's and youth home and the Belleveue youth center are also located in Altstätten.
