The municipality of Baltschieder lies on the right bank of the Rhone in the heart of the Upper Valais. It is a neighboring municipality of Visp. Baltschieder is the Valais municipality that has statistically recorded the highest growth in the resident population in recent years. The population has more than doubled in the last twenty years, from 500 inhabitants in 1981 to 1000 "Baltschiedner" in 1997. Today the village has 1300 inhabitants. This increase in population has led to lively building activity, especially in the valley towards the west. The "inner village" lies at the end of the Baltschiedertal valley with the stream of the same name, which brought so much misfortune to the village in 2000. Welcome
