Blaser Bellach smithy for four generations
In 1901, Gottfried Blaser-Müller, who had moved from Langenthal to Bellach, took over the smithy in Bellach.
Gottfried Blaser-Müller still practiced his craft in the traditional way as a farrier and wagon smith.
The blacksmith was still a partner of the wagon maker and forged the fittings and tires for the farmers' wagons. These times were replaced by the modernization of agriculture.
His successor, his eldest son Gottfried Blaser-Schären, adapted to the changed economic situation. Not only the workshop, but also the customer base changed.
In 1962, Heinz Blaser followed in his father's footsteps. The anvil and forge were joined by new modern equipment and machines.
Fans replaced the outdated bellows and the heavy leather apron was hung up on a hook. Much has changed in the smithy, which was built in 1791.
Heinz Blaser has managed to carefully and continuously adapt his business to modern times without depriving his craft of its nostalgic authenticity.
On January 1, 1998, Markus Blaser took over the reins of the forge in the fourth generation.
True to family tradition, Markus Blaser also trained as a farrier and vehicle smith, but also completed an additional apprenticeship in metal construction.
On March 13, 2019, we sadly had to say goodbye to Heinz Blaser forever.
Heinz Blaser.
Heinz, or "dr Senior," was present in the smithy every day until the very end
in the smithy, where he
perfectly despite his advanced age.
. He took great pleasure in
supporting our apprentices at the forge
and giving them tips.
Today, two workers are employed in the forge and two apprentices are being trained.
After 20 years as a sole proprietorship, Markus Blaser Schmiede - Schlosserei - Metallbau, the legal form has been changed. We are now a public limited company:
Blaser Schmiede & Metallbau AG.
