The history of Spazio Aperto

In the northern district of Bellinzona, which grew without any urban planning, there had long been a need for a place where people could socialize.

It was then that the idea arose to build a center on the grounds of the convent where the population could meet to satisfy their social and cultural needs.

However, it was decided that the center should not be an offshoot of the Church, but rather a secular association would manage it.

Thus, in 1992, Spazio Aperto was born at Via Gerretta 9a.

Since its early years, the Center has proved to be extremely useful not only for the district of Bellinzona but, given its location, it is also in demand throughout Ticino and even in the rest of Switzerland as a meeting place.

Those who have used it so far have always admired the simplicity of its architectural lines and the comfort of its spaces, which allow for meetings and small study groups, as well as concerts of various kinds.

But what is most appreciated is the fact that a large group can book the entire center exclusively in order to hold full days of study, staying for lunch or dinner.

 

Conferences

The rooms at Spazio Aperto are particularly suitable for companies, associations, and educational institutions that need their own space to hold conferences, assemblies, meetings, or courses of any kind when necessary.It is also possible to use our hall for political events, art presentations or, as is already the case, to use our main hall for musical and artistic recitals.

The Conference Room

The main hall is located on the ground floor and has a theater-style seating capacity of 250. Access to the conference room is immediately in front of the entrance to the center itself, and outdoor parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity, in addition to the private indoor parking lot that Spazio Aperto provides for its customers. Spazio Aperto provides for its customers. In addition to the main hall,Spazio Aperto can also offer intermediate solutions with spaces seating from 20 to 80 people. All the intermediate rooms are covered by our Hot Spot Wi-Fi signal and can be equipped with a screen for a projector.

The Rooms

Spazio Aperto offers its customers a variety of rooms suitable for all purposes.
The structure is divided into three levels, a cool but bright basement that houses our "Youth Room," the hostel rooms, and a small bar that is open for breakfast or upon customer request. Toilets and showers are available for hostel guests. The ground floor is the main floor and includes the lounge, reception hall, toilets, and our association's offices. Climbing the stairs or taking the elevator, you reach the upper floor where there are four rooms that can be used for courses or small meetings. Toilets are also available on this floor.

The Hall

This is our main reception room. It has a floor area of 235 square meters and can seat up to 250 people in a theater configuration. It is ideal for wedding receptions, cocktail parties, or for business meetings, assemblies, and conferences. It is equipped with an audio system with table or radio frequency microphones, variable lighting, and a 3.5-meter projection screen. For wedding receptions, our hall can comfortably accommodate up to 150 people.

The Youth Room

The Youth Room is located on level -1. The room is particularly cool on hot summer days and sufficiently lit.

Its size of 120 square meters allows it to accommodate up to 120 people in a theater or aperitif configuration, or 60/80 for courses, meetings, or business lunches and dinners. The room is equipped with a flip chart, projector, and screen for presentations. The Youth Room has its own independent entrance, restrooms on the same floor, and, upon request, a small but fully equipped bar for breaks or breakfast.

Rooms 1-2-3-4

Suitable for meetings, courses, or business lunches, these rooms are located on the first floor. They are all independent, very bright, and can accommodate approximately 15 to 30 people.

In addition, rooms 3 and 4 can be combined into a single room and can accommodate up to about 40 people. All rooms have restrooms on the floor, wireless Internet connection, and are equipped with a projector, flip chart, and anything else the customer may need upon request.

 

The Hostel

The Spazio Aperto facility offers student groups, sports teams, or simply groups of friends, affordable and convenient accommodation for spending the night in our city.

The number of beds is limited, so normally those staying at our hostel are the only guests for that night, which makes their stay even more comfortable.

The Rooms

The Spazio Apertohostel has been converted from civil protection premises. It is located in the basement and therefore has no windows. It is certainly spartan, but it offers peace, cleanliness, and comfort.

Our in-house restaurant

One of the main and most important features of Spazio Aperto is its catering service. Our facility is particularly suitable for wedding lunches and aperitifs, banquets, business dinners, corporate refreshments, and much more.

Our chef will offer customers the best solutions for every need, evaluating all aspects of the service together with the customer, from the organization of the room to the choice of menu and, last but not least, the right economic compromise. It is possible to offer personalized menus based on a budget set by the customer.

The Hall

With 235 square meters and 8 meters in height, our hall can comfortably accommodate up to 250 people for cocktails and 150 for lunches and banquets. An adequate sound system can entertain guests during their stay. A small stage can also be used for shows or simple performances.
