With its dome and wrought-iron balustrades, the Farinet makes a surprising appearance in Montana. Its bell-shaped roof is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau style. It was the first framed building in the region, meaning that the structure is made up of concrete posts rather than solid walls. The resulting structural rhythm is visible on the façade. The terrace surrounding the building skilfully manages the slope of the street. Slightly elevated, it is an ideal place to observe the comings and goings of passers-by.
The building's renovation in 2007 updated some of its original features, such as the staircase leading directly to the main entrance at the corner of the building.
The Farinet, despite its modest dimensions, reflects a resolutely urban image. By placing the staircase and entrance in the corner of the building, the architect was keen to mark its location at the crossroads of two streets, as one would do for a city block.
The Farinet, despite its modest dimensions, conveys a resolutely urban image.
