Gutenberg Buchhandlung has been based in Gossau for 143 years, making it the oldest bookstore still in operation in eastern Switzerland. We sell everything from children's books and cookbooks to non-fiction and a selection of fine fiction.

Trained bookseller André Wigger has been running the bookstore with great dedication for many years. Since the summer of 2022, the team has been joined by bookseller Lea Cadisch and Sara Jevremovic (who is training to be a bookseller). Our long-standing employee Maja Scherrer retired at the end of 2023.

Our comprehensive book catalog with over 300,000 titles is available on our website for your orders. Here you will also find the latest events that make us a popular supplier beyond the region. On request, we open our bookstore again after closing time for book lovers in pairs or groups and lock you in for three hours for a "GutBuchNacht" (good book night) in the bookstore, where you can browse books and chat with your friends, acquaintances, and relatives over a glass of wine and snacks.

We are open from Tuesday to Saturday and look forward to your visit.
