It plunges into the earth, the planet on which I live.

It makes me experience sensations and seasons.

She reminds me of the men who cultivated this same soil 8,000 years ago.

She is the beauty of shoots in spring, the joy of seeing buds
swell, the discovery of an insect or plant I don't
know yet.

She's alive, asking me questions, connecting me to people through
the wine she produces.

I'm just the go-between trying to respect "the land that's
not mine"

and "the wine, fiery comet promised for next year."
