This unique nursery moved to new premises in 2012. It has very modern facilities and a spacious garden, which is ideal for a wide range of activities. The lake with a large public playground is 80 meters away and can be reached via a pedestrian zone. The forest is also within walking distance and is pedestrian-friendly.
There are subsidized places for parents living in the municipality of Küsnacht.

The monthly fee is payable even if the child is absent, in particular due to illness, accident, vacation, or public holidays.
The summer break is included in the monthly fee (50 instead of 52 calendar weeks per year).
If a child is cared for outside the agreed hours, CHF 15 per hour will be charged, or the above individual rates will be charged for whole days.
If siblings attend our facilities, the second and each additional child will receive a 10% reduction on the daily rate.

We regularly offer English courses for children, which are lovingly and competently prepared and conducted by one of our employees. The lessons are fun and successful. Everything is based on the mother tongue principle. The children learn, just like their mother tongue, through repeated listening and positive reinforcement. They learn the correct accent, grammar, and vocabulary through play. Games, verses, songs, movement sequences, and direct teaching alternate harmoniously. Lessons take place once a week and last 60 minutes. Depending on demand, courses are offered for beginners and/or advanced learners. The English course can be booked on a semester basis and usually takes place within one semester (outside of school holidays).

o1. Location and infrastructure
The Bienehuus nursery is located at Seestrasse 134 and 134a in Küsnacht.
Spacious rooms and a large entrance area invite children to play and linger. The group rooms offer the best conditions for group work (singing, playing, storytelling, etc.), free play, arts and crafts (painting, crafting, modeling clay, etc.), a rhythm room (movement and music), as well as plenty of opportunities for retreat and rest. The nursery has direct access to the nursery garden, which is ideal for playing. There is a variety of outdoor play equipment, plenty of space to play, jump and run around, and a wide range of natural materials such as sand, water, wood and stones. To drop off and pick up the children, please use the parking spaces on Untere Dorfstrasse and the pedestrian underpass.
The nursery is a 3-minute walk from Küsnacht train station on a path that is accessible to strollers. Its central location allows us to reach the lake and forest (Tobel) in a short time.
o2. Mission
The private Bienehuus Küsnacht nursery is an educational, family-complementary daycare facility for preschool-aged children. We see ourselves as a learning organization and strive for the continuous development of our facility. Our work focuses on the following areas:
Social-educational mission
Education refers to the targeted teaching of social values and norms, especially in the area of interpersonal skills.
The educational mission of the nursery relates to the personality-building aspects of interacting with children, which are not simply present or given in everyday life. For example, in the areas of introduction to culture, creativity, or language development, targeted stimulation and encouragement should be sought.
The communal and integrative mission arises from the diverse composition of the nursery's clientele. By striving for social, cultural, and age diversity, nurseries become ideal places for social learning and offer opportunities for the development of a sense of community and integration.
Social mission
The changing roles in society mean that nurseries must support the process of emancipation, as they are able to meet this need by offering childcare places, thereby enhancing the value of housework and childcare.
The preventive mission refers to the prevention of problems. On the one hand, this is achieved through the early detection of conspicuous behavior in children and, on the other hand, by supporting parents in difficult stages of parenting. In both cases, parents receive targeted advice and support from staff and, if necessary, are referred to counseling centers.
o3. Target group
The nursery has a total of 22 places in two family groups (mixed-age groups), which can be booked on a daily basis. Children are accepted into the nursery from eight weeks of age until they start kindergarten.
o4. Socio-educational approach
In our nursery, the children are the focus of attention. We regard and respect them as independent personalities. It is important for children to build good and supportive relationships with their teachers so that they can develop enough confidence to express their needs and pursue them. Children should feel comfortable and accepted, which is why we are sensitive to their needs and pay close attention to them.
Another important aspect of social development in early childhood is regular contact with other children. Even the youngest children seek out and need other children. They stimulate each other and learn a lot from each other. In order for children to practice "social learning," it is important to have rules and activities that are appropriate for their age and development. By dealing with boundaries within the group, by experiencing being accepted and tolerated by others, and by following the example of the educators, children can adopt positive models for their social behavior. They learn to endure conflict situations, show their own feelings, argue, and suggest solutions, i.e., to compromise.
Children need opportunities for physical activity during the day in order to experience and test their physical strength and limits. To this end, we offer a wide range of versatile and adaptable materials at the nursery. When selecting and storing these materials, we take into account that children should be able to use them without our help in some cases. Where possible, children should be able to spend time outdoors and pursue their activities there. The materials found in nature encourage creative play. A conscious approach to nature and animals is important to us. To this end, we use playgrounds, the nature reserve, the forest, and excursions in the surrounding area.
Children need places to retreat to in order to pursue their individual needs. We offer the children the use of all rooms in the nursery. Free play also plays an important role in this area. With a wide range of play options, children are given the opportunity to develop cognitively and gain experience.
Health promotion is a central concern, which is why we pay attention to a balanced diet and provide support and care appropriate to the age and development of the child. Care situations are experienced holistically by the children so that they can develop a healthy body image. At mealtimes, we value a relaxed and informal atmosphere, thereby promoting enjoyable social interaction.
Children who are experiencing difficulties can only develop their personality optimally if their caregivers recognize and identify the difficulties early on and give the child the necessary support.
In everyday nursery life, we specifically seek ways or take measures to help the child overcome their difficulties. In these situations, discussions with parents are particularly important. However, we also value discussion and exchange with parents in everyday life.
It is important to us to teach children to be independent by using everyday opportunities to help them practice this. We are convinced that independent children can develop healthy self-confidence and self-esteem, and are therefore less prone to addiction and have a more positive outlook on life.
In summary, the goal of care at the Bienehuus Küsnacht nursery is to promote holistic development in an age-appropriate manner through education, training, and care. The caregivers ensure the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual well-being of the child and promote linguistic, motor, and cognitive skills.

o6. Guidelines/supervision
The Bienehuus Küsnacht nursery complies with the specifications and guidelines of the Swiss Daycare Association (KiTaS) and is a member of this association. The nursery is regularly inspected by the guardianship authority and the food inspectorate. Supervision is the responsibility of Chinderhuus Küsnacht GmbH in accordance with the guidelines of the guardianship authority.

o8. Care / Care team
Playing together, laughing, painting, singing, dancing, arguing, or doing crafts—all this (and much more) is possible at the Bienehuus Küsnacht daycare center. In different groups, we give the children space for new contacts and experiences. The child is at the center of our educational work. We take them seriously, accompany them, and support them on their individual path. Our caregivers create a loving atmosphere of security and trust for the children, in which they can develop and grow their personalities.
The care team consists of pedagogically trained individuals, learners, and young interns. This ensures a good mix of expertise, youthfulness, consistency, and renewal. Coordination and management are handled by the management team. We promote the further training of our employees within the limits of our financial resources.
o9. Opening hours / vacations, public holidays, and special days
The opening hours of the Bienehuus Küsnacht nursery are:
Monday to Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The nursery is closed for two weeks in the summer (weeks 31 and 32), between Christmas and New Year, and on the following public holidays:
Good Friday, Easter Monday, Sechseläuten Monday, May 1, Ascension Day (Thursday and Friday), Whit Monday, August 1, Knabenschiessen Monday.
The necessary childcare time per child is discussed individually with the parents and should not exceed 9 hours per day. In order to offer the child a certain degree of consistency in the group and in the childcare relationship, we recommend a minimum attendance of 2 days per week.
10. Daily routine / Meals
Children are brought to the nursery by 9 a.m. at the latest. After their morning snack, the children are looked after in groups. After lunch, there is a rest period during which the children sleep or engage in quiet activities.
We ensure that the children receive age-appropriate, healthy meals, which are freshly prepared every day. The children also receive a mid-morning snack and an afternoon snack.
We ask parents not to send their children to nursery with food or sweets such as chewing gum, candy, chocolate, etc.
The children are looked after without coercion or punishment. Enjoying food is important; it is less important that the children eat everything. If the children are tired, they are allowed to sleep, but there is no obligation to do so. Personal hygiene, washing hands, and brushing teeth should not become a chore, but a positive experience.
11. Admission criteria/admission procedure
Places are available to interested parents, who can arrange a visit and/or request a registration form. This registration is non-binding for both parties. If there is high demand, we keep a waiting list.
As soon as a place becomes available in the foreseeable future, we will contact the parents. If the child can be admitted, this will be recorded in writing between the parents and the management.
12. Financing / Parental contributions
Upon conclusion of the contract, a deposit equal to one month's contribution is payable. This will be refunded without interest if the child's departure is notified in writing in good time, but will be forfeited in the event of any other departure. The costs of childcare places are regulated in the parental contribution regulations and are calculated on the basis of the number of days attended. The monthly invoice is sent to the parents with a payment slip. If the parents no longer require a monthly invoice, they can notify the office.
Monthly fees are payable in advance, by the 28th of the month at the latest. If payment is more than 30 days late, the place may be allocated to someone else.
If a child attends the nursery on days in addition to those agreed, the usual daily rates or (for additional individual hours) CHF 15 per hour will be charged.
13. Admission / Settling-in period
After the contract has been signed, arrangements will be made regarding the admission date, settling-in period, costs, etc.
To make admission and the initial period at the nursery easier, the parents or one parent accompany their child through part of the daily routine at the nursery. The settling-in period begins slowly, with a few hours, and increases gradually. The duration and form of the settling-in period may vary depending on the child's situation. The nursery management decides on the length of the settling-in period. An admission interview takes place at the beginning of the settling-in period.
There is a brief daily exchange between the parents and the teachers about the child's well-being.
14. Clothing
Children should wear durable clothing appropriate for the weather, which they can also wear while playing, doing crafts, and outdoors. Their own spare clothes, depending on the season (including hats, gloves, swimsuits, etc.), should always be available at the nursery. Underwear, slippers, rubber boots, rain jackets, and rain pants should also be kept at the nursery. Please label all clothing, shoes, jackets, etc. with the child's name. We will give dirty clothes to the parents to take home for washing.
15. Personal toys
It is nice for children to be able to bring their favorite toys, cuddly toys, or pacifiers with them. However, please note that we cannot accept any responsibility if something is broken or lost. It is therefore best to leave valuable items at home, as well as weapons and war toys.
16. Illness/absence of children
In order to enable a fixed group composition that is important for the child and the caregivers, binding attendance times for the children apply. These are determined when the child enters the nursery according to the needs of the parents and the capacity of the nursery.
Absences cannot be compensated for. For organizational reasons, absences must be reported to the childcare team by 9 a.m. at the latest. The team must be informed of holiday absences as early as possible (at least 2 weeks in advance). Sick children are not allowed to attend the nursery. If a child becomes ill during the day at the nursery, the parents will be notified to pick up the child. Parents are responsible for taking their children to the doctor. In emergencies, we will contact a doctor or the emergency department of a hospital and inform the parents at the same time. The costs of medical treatment are borne by the parents.
17. Health insurance / liability insurance
The child must be insured with a health insurance company for illness and accidents. The child is not insured against accidents at the nursery.
We recommend that parents take out private liability insurance.
18. Safety
Where necessary, measures are taken to ensure the safety of the children, such as child safety locks, protected sockets, safety strips for walks, etc.
We also strive to maintain high standards of hygiene.
19. Collection of a child by third parties / transport of children by car
If a child is to be picked up by a third party, the group leader or nursery manager (house manager) must be notified in good time. Otherwise, we will contact the parents by telephone and, in case of uncertainty, keep the child with us.
Staff are generally allowed to transport children in private cars. However, this will only happen in exceptional cases (e.g., doctor's appointments, day trips, etc.), and the children will be secured in approved child seats.
20. Parent involvement
The nursery should offer each child a wide range of opportunities for development. It should be a new environment, a place for learning and living. However, these opportunities can only be utilized if the child feels safe and secure in their relationship with the teachers. To make this possible, intensive cooperation between parents and the nursery is required. We strive to establish good communication between educators and parents through various activities such as discussions, parents' evenings, parties, and events. The managing director is responsible for working with parents.
Exchange of information:
The transition for the child from the parents to the educators or from the educators to the parents should be smooth and sufficient time should be allowed for this. Information about the child's well-being or other topics is usually exchanged. It is important to us to create as relaxed an atmosphere as possible in these situations and to incorporate and integrate the parents' farewell rituals.
Parent-teacher conferences:
Once a year (or as needed), meetings are held with parents to discuss the child's development, integration into the nursery, special needs, etc. We work with parents to develop specific support measures and try them out in everyday life. If necessary, our trained staff support parents in parenting issues or refer them to qualified specialists. We strive to create an atmosphere of mutual openness in which it is possible to address any problems that the child brings from home to the nursery or vice versa. We expect parents to be willing to participate in these parent-teacher conferences.
Parent events:
Parent events serve to get to know each other better in a relaxed atmosphere and to build mutual trust. They are intended to provide space for spontaneous conversations and contact between parents, as well as between parents and educators. Involving parents in activities and theme-centered events creates a sense of togetherness between parents, children, and educators.
21. Public relations
• Good networking in the village and neighborhood is important to us. We also maintain professional contacts with a wide variety of organizations.
• Our employees attend further training courses specific to nurseries and young children.
• We offer young people trial internships, giving them an insight into the field of early childhood education.
• The three-year training program for apprentices to become childcare specialists, which we also offer in our nursery, is very important to us.
22. Team meetings
• During the daily handovers (early shift/late shift), important information from and for parents and about the well-being of the children is exchanged among the employees.
• Regular team meetings serve to discuss educational and organizational issues and ensure a good flow of information. Educational, organizational, personnel, and other objectives for the nursery are developed and implemented jointly.
• Trainees and interns are regularly guided and supported by trained early childhood educators. The meetings cover everyday issues, reviewing personal goals, evaluating specific tasks, and educational problems.
23. Contract termination
If the contract is terminated between the conclusion of the contract and the start date, a one-time flat-rate fee in the amount of one month's fee as specified in the contract is payable. The start date is the first regular day of care after the settling-in period.
24. Termination/withdrawal
Termination of the nursery place shall be effected by written notice, subject to a two-month notice period to the end of the month. An exception applies to children entering kindergarten. These childcare places can also be terminated at the end of the summer holidays of the Küsnacht school. In the event of termination by mutual agreement (in the best interests of the child) during the settling-in period, a flat-rate fee of CHF 200 plus the settling-in fee is payable. The children's group will be informed of the child's departure and this will be discussed in an age-appropriate manner. We organize a farewell party as a ritual to say goodbye to each other.
25. Expulsion
The management may expel a child at any time at the end of a week without giving reasons (e.g., non-payment of fees, breach of contract, unacceptable behavior of the child in the group, etc.). The decision will be communicated in writing.
