Close to Winterthur, Kyburg Castle towers 150 meters above the Töss River, ideally located for hikes and excursions in beautiful countryside. Kyburg is the best-preserved feudal castle in northeastern Switzerland and the oldest castle museum in Switzerland.
The exhibition traces the almost 1,000-year history of the Kyburg rulers and allows visitors to experience the complex architecture of the monument in a new way. Dozens of suits of armor and helmets, as well as hundreds of halberds, can be admired in the richly stocked armory. Audio guides in German, English, French, and Italian are available for individual tours of the exhibition.
Visitors are welcome to linger in the baroque castle gardens and admire the vegetables, medicinal herbs, and flowers. The ring wall path offers a magnificent view. Children will enjoy searching for dragons in the castle and the playground in front of the castle gardens.
