Dampfzentrum Winterthur
Museum in Winterthur
The Dampfzentrum Winterthur houses the most extensive and interesting collection of Swiss steam technology in an old factory building since 2011. Numerous volunteers care for and preserve around 500 tons of cultural assets from the time of Switzerland's industrialisation. The museum features reciprocating engines, steam turbines, including the three-cylinder ETH engine from 1899, and the 24 buckets of the chain dredger from Lake Thun driven by the original steam engine. Visitors can also view almost 100 model machines built by Hans Kläy, donated by his daughters to the steam centre.
