Mayland Carpentry is a family business established in 1982 and based in Sainte-Croix. We specialize in the manufacture and installation of wooden and wood-metal windows, doors, and fittings. Our expertise covers many sectors, such as renovation, conversion, and new construction of single-family homes, condominiums, apartment buildings, gymnasiums, multipurpose rooms, schools, historic monuments, and nursing homes. Our team consists of 10 qualified carpenters, led by Gilles Mayland. As a training company, Mayland Carpentry works with two apprentices, who are hired every two years. Always attentive to his customers' needs, Mr. Mayland manages his projects from start to finish, offering personalized follow-up and solutions tailored to each situation. Carpentry:

Carpentry is an art and a craft that uses different techniques to build relatively small structures (as opposed to structural work). Whether it's exterior carpentry (windows, front doors, French windows, bay windows, facades, terraces, shutters, blinds) or interior carpentry (stairs, doors, fittings, kitchens, shelves, beds, tables, wardrobes), we use solid wood, veneered wood, MDF, laminate, melamine, etc. We use single glazing, double glazing, or triple glazing (triple glass).

Wood has several advantages: it helps regulate humidity and temperature indoors; it is an excellent acoustic insulator; and, in the event of a fire, wood transmits heat 10 times slower than concrete and 250 times slower than steel.

 

Screws, nails, bolts, glue, and other mechanical or chemical fasteners are used but are not sufficient on their own: a structure in which unmachined pieces of wood are held together solely by these fasteners is not carpentry.

Nowadays, carpentry also uses materials other than wood (such as PVC, aluminum, etc.).

Carpentry is sometimes associated with other trades, such as metalwork, cabinetmaking, and woodcarving.

 

Our workshop is divided into different sections:

Design - which includes drawing plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software; customer service, quotes, invoicing, site monitoring; purchasing materials, researching new techniques and technologies, contacting suppliers to find the handles, locks, and screens desired by the customer.

Manufacturing - with a range of modern machinery, computer numerical control (CNC), etc.; spray booth for varnishing and applying various finishes, oils, or lacquers, according to the RAL colors chosen.

Installation - team of professional and experienced carpenters and fitters who work on site at the customer's premises. Depending on the scope of the work and the weight of the glass, for example, we work in collaboration with other companies to hire crane trucks, scaffolding, bridges or aerial platforms. We also dismantle and dispose of old windows or doors.
