Haute Ecole de Santé - Vaud – Contacts & Location
Description
An institution committed to major public health challenges
A major player in healthcare and training, located in Lausanne at the heart of the CHUV hospital complex, the Haute École de Santé Vaud (HESAV) trains over 1,200 future healthcare professionals in its four Bachelor's courses:
HESAV also offers a Année Propédeutique Santé (APS), which provides access to HES-SO bachelors in the health field, as well as continuing education and postgraduate training (CAS, short courses) for healthcare professionals and HES graduates.
More than 140 teachers and assistants, most with nationally and internationally recognized dual professional/academic expertise, ensure high-level teaching based on the needs of practice. HESAV's experience in the healthcare field, established over several decades, is evident in the many mandates and expertise entrusted to its faculty.
HESAV's friendly and lively campus is equipped with practice and simulation rooms as well as fully-equipped study laboratories, providing a professional environment that allows students to practice and develop practical skills in complete safety. HESAV also benefits from access to the CHUV infrastructure.
Research rooted in practice
As a driving force in the evolution of the healthcare system, HESAV occupies a central position in the field of research. Its Unité de recherche en Santé (URS) actively participates in improving professional practices and the quality of care via numerous research projects rooted in practice and oriented towards socio-health issues. Many of its research projects stem from and/or are funded by cantonal policies such as Veillir2030 or by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). HESAV's research projects focus on 8 themes:
Population aging,
Mental health,
Chronic diseases,
Movement, sport and health,
Development and biotechnologies,
Interprofessionality and practices,
Health services research,
Policies and legal framework.
New campus in 2026
In 2026, HESAV will move to the newhealth campus, close to the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and EPFL. The move will mark a new era for the institution, bringing together its four current Bachelor's programs as well as thea Occupational Therapy program, offering a modern and innovative training environment.
