Why orthodontics

Orthodontic treatments are performed for functional and/or aesthetic reasons. Correct jaw alignment and good tooth position with appropriate occlusion are prerequisites for optimal function when chewing, swallowing, speaking, and for correct mouth closure.

Teeth are eye-catching. Beautiful teeth and good tooth alignment allow us to laugh carefree and increase our self-esteem.

There is a wide variety of tooth and jaw positions, as well as tooth and jaw shapes, in nature. Not every deviation from the norm necessarily requires treatment.

Tooth positions

The two jaws must fit together harmoniously, which can be seen in profile without looking directly at the teeth.

An ideal tooth position is a regular row of teeth and is aesthetically pleasing. It is an important part of a person's attractiveness at any age.

Functionally correct interlocking of the teeth enables proper chewing function. Ideally, all teeth are supported: each tooth in the upper jaw touches two teeth in the lower jaw and vice versa, like gears in a transmission. The prerequisite for good tooth position is the correct position of the upper and lower jaw.

Child-friendly treatment

Your child will be gently introduced to the treatment with great dedication. During the therapy, your child will be accompanied by understandable explanations. There is also a TV attached to the ceiling, which distracts your child with a children's film during the treatment.

For children who are very nervous or very afraid despite all distraction maneuvers, the use of nitrous oxide can also provide relief.

In order to be able to work under optimal conditions during major dental procedures in young children, the treatment can be carried out under general anesthesia in collaboration with an experienced anesthesia team.
