Fondazione Istituto Elvetico Opera Don Bosco – Contacts & Location
Description
WHO WE ARE.
For more than 100 years, the Helvetic Institute of the Salesians of Don Bosco has been present in Lugano with its three study paths:
Elementary School - parified with municipal schools, lasting 5 years.
Middle School - parified with cantonal schools, lasting 4 years.
International High School - parified and with an Italian baccalaureate recognized by universities in Switzerland, lasting 4 years. Our Liceo offers three lines of study: scientific high school (with applied science option), language high school and humanities high school (with economic-social option).
Our Helvetic Institute is open to all, regardless of religious belief, ethnicity or social class.
SALESIAN METHOD (VALUES and EDUCATIONAL PROJECT)
OUR VALUES
Don Bosco called the educational adventure of growing up together "Preventive System"and identified its most qualifying aspects around four environments: the School, the Home, the Court and the Church, living spaces in which to share experiences of personal growth and formation.
The experience of the School provides all the tools necessary for each student to develop skills and attitudes fundamental for life in society, through the harmonious development of his or her personality, critical consciousness and solid cultural formation.
The experience of the Home generates an environment rich in confidence and familiarity and constitutes a characteristic element of our pedagogy: the unconditional welcome and being there when you need to share what you are experiencing.
The experience of the Court fosters a spontaneous and informal environment, in which relationships of friendship and trust are born and strengthened, in mutual respect and civic coexistence.
The experience spiritual makes room for everyone's desire to be happy in time and eternity. With respect for each person and starting from the students' experience, we offer various opportunities to cultivate their inner dimension and discover their life project.
OUR METHOD
The student has always been at the center of Salesian pedagogy and its methodological choices.
Each student at the Helvetic Institute, with his or her cultural profile, encompasses a broad horizon of values and interests, personal inclinations and educational needs that he or she has learned through his or her family.
Our School recognizes and is committed to enhancing this horizon in order to foster the full realization of the person.
The sharing of theInstitute Educational Project is the indispensable prerequisite for initiating an educational path called to involve, with due gradualness and necessary clarity, the responsibility of everyone: students and parents, teachers and educators.
Each pupil is required to respect, willingness to listen and personal research.
At the Helvetic Institute we accompany each pupil and his or her family on the passionate adventure of education by building a safe and high-performing educational environment, ensuring relationships that promote meaningful personal confrontation between pupils and adults, thus moving beyond a functional approach to building relationships together marked by respect and personal care.
We foster group experiences to respond to the diverse interests of learners through active learning, where experiencing firsthand and being a protagonist fosters personal inquiry and the opportunity to express oneself in new initiatives.
We also support the pupil in his or her most personal choices, meeting each one in his or her own originality, "face to face".
Don Bosco's pedagogical style combines being together in the courtyard with meeting the individual, thus fostering the educational journey through personal relationships.
