HYGIENE AND PREVENTION
Intact and beautiful teeth, strong and healthy gums represent the desire of every person. Well this goal is achievable at an affordable cost. A hygiene visit every 6 months is the best way to preserve one's smile and oral health. Our trained and experienced dental hygienists are available to our patients for preventive plans and oral hygiene demonstrations. The physical removal of plaque and tartar on a regular basis restores the optimal state of the gums, warding off infections and more serious diseases.
CONSERVATIVE
Conservative dentistry is the discipline that deals with the reconstruction of teeth, when tooth decay or trauma has caused the loss of part of them. Sophisticated adhesive systems, high-performance esthetic materials, and increasingly refined direct and indirect restorative techniques make it possible to optimally remedy the damage suffered by teeth. Modern restorative dentistry is based on the concept of minimum invasiveness, with only the removal of carious tissue and its replacement with a restorative material: composite material or compomer with dam, Flow, Photac, Saremco.
If, however, caries or trauma removes important parts of the tooth, a direct filling with composite material is not safe enough. In this case, it is more appropriate to replace the missing part of the tooth with a ceramic or composite restoration such as a inlay ( inlay and onlay ) or a partial crown.
IMPLANTOLOGY ( Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Branemark, Neodent, Intralock )
There is an alternative to removable prostheses, with all the problems of maintenance, blemishes and difficulties that these entail: the implants or implants
Implantology is an optimal solution in many cases, for the restoration of masticatory and aesthetic functions in cases of edentulousness (partial or total loss of the dentition). This technique involves prostheses being attached directly to titanium implants, artificial tooth roots, in order to achieve fixed teeth that are perfectly integrated into the oral cavity. The main advantage, compared with traditional prostheses, is to have a fully-fledged denture of one's own, solidarized to the jaws in complete safety and biocompatibility.
Implantology in recent years has made great progress. The goal that scientific research has set for itself in this area has been to minimize patient discomfort through the reduction of rehabilitation time. This has led to the introduction of the concept of immediate load immediate load ( Immediate Load Implant ) in cases where teeth need to be extracted, it is now possible to immediately insert implants and, again in the same session, take an impression that allows the technician, in just 48 hours, to make a fixed provisional prosthesis, solidarized to the implants: this is the Toronto bridge or All in four or All in six. After the time necessary for the tissues to heal, the final functional and esthetic prosthesis is fabricated through the most sophisticated dental technology: in fact, the basic structure is made through a high-precision computerized milling system starting from a solid titanium block on which the dental technician then applies the esthetic veneer (teeth and possibly gingiva) using the best available on the market today in terms of quality. In some cases, when the esthetic demand is maximum, the basic structure can be made, using the same technology, in a white material with very high mechanical properties: zirconia or zirconium
The safety and competence with which this technique is proposed to our patients is the latest example of how the Firm's desire has always been to offer the best possible treatment based on scientific evidence. Today we can offer Straumann's new PURE Ceramic implants with the SLActive surface. PARODONTOLOGY
Gum disease is the primary cause of tooth loss and is characterized in two stages. The first, called gingivitis, sees reddened, swollen gums that bleed easily. At this stage, the disease is perfectly reversible. Regular ablation every 6 months of tartar and home oral hygiene training with our dental hygienists are the easiest and most effective way to heal gingivitis and regain strong, healthy gums.
If left untreated, gingivitis forms can evolve into parodontitis in which deep tooth structures, bone tissue and desmodontal fibers are affected. If periodontitis is not addressed in time, there is destruction of the supporting tissues of the teeth and their progressive loss. As the disease progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult to adopt therapies that give stable long-term results. If not treated in time, periodontitis leads to the loss of individual or, in the worst case, all teeth. In our practice we perform regenerative periodontal surgery that, with the help of biocompatible materials and biomimetic substances, leads, in favorable cases, to the restoration of a healthy periodontium: Emdogain, BioOss, BioGuide.

RADICULAR TREATMENTS
Endodontics is the treatment of diseases of the dental pulp and root canals. The techniques used in our practice aim for minimal invasiveness. In fact, root canal treatment aims to remove the causes of infection or inflammation of the tooth pulp. When it is not possible to treat a tooth with an apical lesion, also called a granuloma, by normal root canal treatment through the crown of the tooth, endodontic surgery is used. Apicoectomy surgery (surgical amputation of the end of the root) is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, is painless, and varies in duration depending on more or less complex cases. It can be performed on frontal teeth (incisors and canines) as well as premolars and molars and allows the treated element to be preserved to its maximum function and aesthetics.
A tooth, after root treatment is performed, is potentially more fragile. To ensure its full integrity over time, avoiding any fracture, it is always recommended to cover the devitalized teeth with an esthetic crown.
FIXED PROSTHESIS
Fixed prostheses serve to reconstruct the anatomical parts of the tooth destroyed by caries, so as to restore chewing function and preserve the tooth from possible fractures. When a tooth has a high degree of healthy tissue loss, simple filling is no longer sufficient to ensure a reconstruction that satisfies the patient in terms of durability and aesthetics. At this time, the best solutions are the preparation of grooves or single crowns, depending on the extent of the initial damage. In our practice the materials used for these artifacts are composites or ceramics of the latest generation.
In inlays the teeth are meticulously prepared, leaving part of the original structure; an impression is then taken, thanks to which the dental technician can make an artifact that perfectly recreates the part of the tooth that has been destroyed by caries or an accident.
For potentially fragile or very damaged teeth, in our practice we propose carroons as a solution. In this case the size of the tooth is reduced in all planes. As with inlays, an impression is then taken and the crown made by the dental technician.
When a prosthesis is to replace lost tooth elements, bridges are used instead. Bridges or replacement prostheses are anchored to the natural dental elements next to the areas where teeth are missing.
Completing the picture of fixed prostheses are facets made of composite or ceramic, which consist of "shells" to be applied to the anterior teeth for purposes of high esthetics or functional restoration.
In our practice, fixed prostheses are made in an exclusively customized manner, with materials of very high precision and esthetics, using computer-assisted methodology through CAD/CAM technology. Fixed prostheses are fabricated taking advantage of all the latest innovations in the field of dental materials, such as zirconium and lithium disilicate, so as to be perfectly camouflaged within the oral cavity. It will be very difficult to distinguish a healthy, untreated tooth from a tooth that has been reconstructed with an inlay, crown or veneer. Fixed prostheses are permanently cemented to the teeth and cannot be removed by the patient.
FMOBILE PROSTHESIS
A removable prosthesis is defined as a set of devices that return lost dental elements to the patient, but can be removed by the patient to perform daily oral hygiene.
The total denture, skeletal denture and supported denture radicular denture are part of these devices. They become prostheses of first choice when there are not enough dental elements to make custom fixed crowns or bridges and dental implants cannot be placed because of reduced bone. In fact, in these cases, the only method to replace missing teeth is to resort to removable dentures, which provide full stability but can be removed by the patient if necessary.
With a resin base and resin or ceramic teeth, removable dentures are still a solution of a definitive nature, with often very satisfactory esthetic results. In fact, because it is highly stable due to its support on the gums to which it adheres through a suction cup mechanism, the removable denture allows adequate chewing and makes good esthetics and proper phonation possible. Today, the most sought-after aesthetic solutions make a removable prosthesis indistinguishable from a natural arch.
The skeleton, on the other hand, is a removable prosthesis consisting of a metal skeleton and parts that can be made of resin or ceramic, and anchorage on the remaining teeth is done through metal hooks or thanks to specific attachments.
BLEACHING OR BLEACHING
The teeth are subjected daily to the coloring action of a large number of external factors (smoke, coffee, tea...), which over time can cause them to lose the original shine proper to healthy teeth.
Tooth whitening treatment, which can be performed by various techniques, is indicated for all those who are dissatisfied with the color of their teeth, although practically everyone can benefit from tooth whitening. Especially benefiting are those who, despite having teeth in good shape and health, present a loaded color, in shades of yellow, brown or reddish. In these cases the improvement produced by the treatment is more certain. The whitening process takes place through special substances that are applied in the office or at home by the same patient instructed for the purpose. A gel is brought into contact with the enamel that is neither toxic nor dangerous to the health of the teeth, based on hydrogen peroxide, which acts on the pigment molecules of enamel and dentin: it breaks the molecular bonds of the colored substances making the teeth whiter and brighter.
The whitening treatment is in no way dangerous to the teeth. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration classifies hydrogen peroxide as a "cosmetic agent," limiting testing requirements and use regulations against whitening products containing it. This confirms the substantial safety of this substance for dental use.
Under the supervision of an experienced dentist, teeth whitening with hydrogen peroxide gel is safe and effective and is a cosmetic treatment that can improve smile aesthetics.
Treatment is of two types. At-home whitening, carried out by the patient with the use of special masks in which the product is inserted, placed on the teeth for half an hour for 15 days. In-office whitening, treatment carried out in one session by the dentist, lasting one hour, through the use of a more concentrated hydrogen peroxide gel and a specific laser device. With professional whitening, appreciable results can be seen as early as the third day of treatment.
AMALGAME REMOVAL
Amalgams ( "amalgam fillings, leads" ) are fillings composed of 50 percent tin, silver, copper and 50 percent mercury, used in dentistry as early as the 19th century. Having a metal component, they are fillings that stand the test of time very well. Scientifically and academically, it is no longer disputed that tiny amounts of mercury, on the order of a few micrograms, regularly escape from amalgams, especially during the chewing act. The debate between proponents and opponents of the use of amalgams has thus shifted to the effect that these small amounts of mercury may have on health. The positions are irreconcilable and diametrically opposed: on the one hand harmlessness of amalgams, on the other hand slight to severe impairment of the health status of people who wear amalgams.
The problem lies in the fact that at small doses mercury does not give a specific symptomatic picture therefore it is practically impossible to correlate the onset of symptoms, the cause of which cannot be determined, with the presence of amalgam fillings. The list of suspected symptoms related to the presence of minimal doses of mercury is very long, ranging from chronic fatigue, chronic infections, through unspecific pain in various parts of the body. It is indisputable that mercury is toxic even in minute doses, but its toxic effect on the individual person is virtually impossible to assess and quantify. It is likely that the immune system of the vast majority of people is capable of eliminating the minute amounts of mercury leaked from amalgams. Given, however, the large case histories of people who are better or feel cured after complete remediation of their amalgams, it is equally possible that in some cases mercury affects people's health in a different way.
For those who want to remove, for health or other reasons, their amalgams, it is very important that they do so following a safe protocol. In our practice we have adopted IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology) procedures since 1990. High-volume IQ-Air aspirator with charcoal filters, "Clean-up" aspirator tube, ever-new burs at reduced speed, rinsing with chelating substances ( sodium thiosulfate ), Weleda myrrh solution, are the measures we use to minimize potential patient contamination as much as possible.
