Trekking

We live with our alpacas on site in the Solothurn Jura and look forward to going on a hike with you around the Balmberg. Trekking is possible every day of the year. Last-minute registrations are also welcome.

Alpacas, like llamas, are a domesticated South American camel species. In contrast to the llama, the alpaca is smaller and has softer wool. Alpacas are also known for their peaceful character. This makes them suitable for children aged 4 and over and they are also used in animal-assisted therapies.

My husband Ernst Ryf and I, Elisabeth Bucheli Ryf, live on the Balmberg and have been running the Seminar and Holiday Home Tannenheim for over 20 years. Since 2009, we have also been keeping alpacas as an addition to our offer. After years of working as a Spitex/psychiatric nurse, I now devote myself passionately to the alpacas in addition to the seminar house. My husband is responsible for well-kept pastures, intact fences and food supplies. I take great pleasure and commitment in leading the treks with our beloved four-legged friends. We both enjoy the gentle, proud and calm nature of the animals.
