Description
Ready to work on your health?
Osteopathy can be divided into three sub-areas. Parietal osteopathy (musculoskeletal system), visceral osteopathy (organs and their attachments) and craniosacral osteopathy (bones and membranes of the skull and sacrum). All three systems are interconnected and can influence each other.
IndicationsThe indications for osteopathic treatment are many and varied. Below you will find some examples, but these should not be taken as an exhaustive list:
Disorders of the musculoskeletal system:
- Back pain (e.g. lumbago, sciatica, disc hernia)
- Neck pain
- Sports injuries such as sprains, muscle injuries
- Headaches/migraines
Digestive complaints:
- difficulty swallowing
- Heartburn/reflux
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Colic pain
Disorders in the ear, nose and throat area:
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Recurrent inflammation (sinuses, middle ear infections)
- Jaw joint complaints (clicking, teeth grinding)
Osteopathy for toddlers/babies
In the treatment of toddlers/babies, the osteopath uses gentle grips to release blockages and tension. The osteopath can treat a wide variety of complaints in the practice. These range from torticollis, cry babies, scoliosis treatment, concentration disorders, digestive problems (e.g. three-month colic), sucking and swallowing disorders and recurring ear, nose and throat infections.
Manual therapy
Manual therapy treats functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system using targeted hand movements - the focus is on muscles and joints and their interaction
The literal translation of manual therapy means: "treatment with the hands". This term already indicates that manual therapists take joints, muscles and tendons "in their hands" and positively influence them with special grip techniques. Training knowledge and activity promotion also play a central role. A manual therapy session includes combinations of grip techniques and training or activity units. Manual therapists carefully weigh up which individual treatment elements are the best service package for the patient.
Classically, so-called grip techniques cause a joint to mobilize. This can take place in different degrees of movement and with or without an additional impulse effect. Mobilization with impulse is called manipulation. Manual techniques are also frequently used to detonate muscles. However, a variety of other effects (e.g. improved circulation, pain regulation) can also take place in the target structure during treatment. This is a very simplified explanation. In fact, complex mechanisms of action take place during manual treatment.Training plans, home programs and training organization are just as important and accordingly play an important role in our services. The latest scientific findings are largely in agreement on one point: training and fitness are the best guides to recovery. Manual therapists are very aware of this and make active use of this aspect: the greater part of the therapy session is usually characterized by active training or exercises.Medical Training Therapy (MTT)Medical training therapy is targeted physical training with and without equipment under the guidance of a physiotherapist.
What is MTT:
MTT medical training therapy. MTT is most commonly used in rehabilitation following surgery or injuries to the musculoskeletal system. The focus is on promoting strength, mobility, coordination and endurance. We offer MTT at our Update Fitness location on over 1400m2. The prerequisite for medical training therapy is a doctor's prescription and, if applicable, a cost approval from the health insurance company.
Is a treatment technique to reduce swelling (lymphoedema) in the body. After the treatment, a compression bandage is usually applied, which is later replaced with a custom-made compression stocking.
What is lymphoedema:
Lymphoedema is an increased accumulation of fluid under the skin, usually clearly visible in the extremities of the arms and legs.
How does lymphoedema develop:
Lymphedema occurs where the removal of tissue fluid is impaired. The cause can be a congenital malformation of lymphatic channels or an injury to tissue, e.g. after surgery.
How can lymphoedema be reduced:
Lymphedema can be treated with targeted manual manipulation and bandaging. At the end of the treatment series, a custom-made stocking is often necessary.
Physiotherapy for children is geared towards the age-appropriate sensorimotor development of the child.
Physiotherapy for babies and toddlersWe accompany children of different ages, from infants to adolescents. The therapy is carried out in a playful way, because your child should enjoy and be motivated to participate. Advice for parents and/or caregivers is also an important part of the therapy.
Dry needlingIs a method in which a sterile needle is inserted into the muscle to release pain caused by MTrP's (myofascial trigger points or muscle stiffness)
.What is an MTrP:
A myofascial trigger point (MTrP) is a noticeable, local hardening in usually several muscle fibers that leads to unpleasant pain. This can manifest itself at rest or during movement (stretching or tensing the muscle). Depending on the location of the MTrP, the pain radiates to a very specific area. The MTrP can therefore be localized by a trained therapist through pain description and testing.
How does an MTrP develop:
There can be many causes. Overloading the muscle is often the cause. Repetitive or jerky movements are possible causes. Prolonged postures such as standing, sitting or lying in an unusual position can also lead to the development of MTrP.
How can MTrP be resolved:
Targeted treatment with pressure (e.g. with a needle, thumb or trigger wood) on the MTrP relieves the tension and pain. After treatment, however, the pain may well increase for 1-2 days and only decrease noticeably from the third day onwards.
