Missions

Serving over 1,600 establishments and nearly 10,000 Vaud jobs

At the service of Vaud's restaurant and hotel professionals, Gastrovaud represents over 1,600 establishments. Our association delivers a wide range of services, from professional training to defending the interests of the industry, not to mention the many services provided by its partners.

Founded in 1892, Gastrovaud is the largest employers' association for the hotel and catering industry in the canton of Vaud. Its services include:

Vocational training

In collaboration with the State of Vaud, Gastrovaud delivers numerous courses at its professional center in Pully. These courses are aimed in particular at the following audiences:

• people wishing to take over or open an establishment. Gastrovaud provides them with compulsory courses, with a view to examining and obtaining the cantonal certificate of aptitude and the diploma for an establishment license or simple authorization.
• Gastrovaud offers them four courses, in business management, accounting, tourism, sales and service, and cooking. These courses are recognized at Swiss level and enable graduates, if they pass the exams, to enroll in courses preparing for the federal patent and diploma.
• apprentices. Every year, Gastrovaud takes on several hundred apprentices in the hotel and catering trades, as well as in the bakery, as part of the inter-company courses organized in Pully.

Corporate services

As an employers' association, Gastrovaud offers affiliated companies all the services they need for their activities, in particular:

• A compensation fund (1st pillar) and a pension fund (2nd pillar): GastroSocial
• A fiduciary specialized in the hotel and catering industry: Gastroconsult
• Legal advice, thanks to the services of the umbrella association Gastrosuisse
• First-hand information on industry news and trends, thanks to the national weekly Gastro Journaland the French-speaking weekly Le Cafetier.

Industry defense, promotion and representation

Gastrovaud's mission also includes defending, promoting and representing the interests of the industry, in an increasingly complex political, economic and legal context.

Defending employers' interests

Actively involved in a number of public, parapublic and private bodies at cantonal and federal level, Gastrovaud representatives strongly assert the interests of their members. In particular, they are committed to combating the tax, legal and regulatory overload that constantly threatens the industry, and defend an open and responsible market economy, while respecting the social partnership that has made our country so successful.

Gastrovaud's representatives are active in a number of public and private bodies at both cantonal and federal level.

Branch promotion

While some professions receive little exposure, those in the catering industry are constantly in the spotlight, due to their public and social dimension. Gastrovaud's mission is to promote the industry's image to the media, the general public and its members. The association responds to numerous solicitations, taking part in trade shows, conferences, interviews, small and large-scale events.

Branch representation

By virtue of its structure, Gastrovaud serves as an ambassador for its members at all levels. The association thus defends the concerns of Vaud's cafetiers, restaurateurs and hoteliers in national hotel and catering bodies, whose positions it relays at cantonal and local level. Finally, our regional sections offer each member a local structure and a dense network of contacts.
