It all began when grandfather Silvio began cultivating a few square meters of vineyard adjacent to the family home in Bellinzona, producing with much passion a Merlot wine for domestic use. His son Gianfranco inherited this passion, prompting him, while specializing by becoming an electrical engineer, to perfect himself in the world of oenology, studying as a self-taught, wanting to improve that wine of which his father was so proud.

Time goes by and Gianfranco wishes to increase this passion into something more concrete and so in 1992, together with his dear friend and renowned Architect Aurelio Galfetti, he built the first Ghidossi Winery where it stands on the dunes of Monte Ceneri in Cadenazzo, which has also been awarded internationally and reported in several publications, books and architectural magazines.

From that time there is a rapid rise of satisfaction, where with passion, tenacity and thoroughness, led him to develop and improve his wines to the best of his ability. In fact he began to win his first medals in international competitions, obtaining several Gold Medals for the Merlot whose nickname he bears : "Lightning".
