Water supply in figures

There are several water supply cooperatives in the municipality of Sigriswil. By far the largest supply is the public water supply in the municipality of Sigriswil. It supplies 10 of the 11 villages in the municipality of Sigriswil. In addition to the public water supply, there are two smaller supplies, each of which only supplies a small group of houses. There is also the Justistal Alpine Water Supply Cooperative in the municipality.

The WV Gemeinde Sigriswil supplies around 4300 of the approximately 4800 inhabitants of the municipality of Sigriswil. To do this, we need a public pipeline network of around 75 km, 15 reservoirs and 7 pumping stations. We have a total of 19 different pressure zones. The more than 1700 connected properties are supplied by over 51 km of house connection pipes. We currently provide firefighting protection with 419 hydrants.

In Switzerland, 29% of the water comes from spring water, 44% from groundwater and 27% from lake water. In Sigriswil, on the other hand, the largest proportion, namely 97%, comes from spring water and only 3% from groundwater.

In addition to supplying drinking and extinguishing water, we also produce a considerable amount of electricity. Our two turbines produce a total of just under 500,000 kWh of energy per year.

The entire water supply system has a replacement value of over CHF 55. million.
