Reconstructive surgery includes scar correction, nose and ear reconstruction and breast reconstruction. Breast reconstruction following breast cancer treatment has become increasingly important in recent years; the surgical spectrum has been expanded by reconstructive procedures using the patient's own abdominal tissue, which can be performed gently using microsurgical techniques.

AESTHETIC MEDICINE complements our range of surgical services with treatments and therapies in the  aesthetic, non-invasive field. With the latest methods of wrinkle correction, many things can be corrected  in the initial stages without surgical methods, for example with botulinum toxin and/or wrinkle injections with hyaluronic acid preparations or autologous fat.  A peel removes pigment spots and improves the skin structure. Unwanted hair on the face and body can be permanently removed with laser epilation.

HAND SURGERY, formerly part of plastic surgery and now an independent specialty, is offered at our clinic exclusively by specialists in hand surgery. The treatment area of hand surgery includes all disorders that affect the function of the hand, i.e. changes to tendons, vessels, joints and nerves, which can be constricted at various points. Acute injuries, congenital malformations, nerve diseases and tumors as well as rheumatic diseases are treated.

Dr. Tschopp received his many years of training in plastic surgery in Bern, Montreal (Canada) and Dallas (USA). As an experienced and highly specialized specialist, he is familiar with the latest techniques

and innovations in plastic surgery. Dr. Tschopp has headed the Klinik im Spiegel since 2002.

Dr. med. Hyunju Kim Haemmig

Dr. med. Hyunju Kim Haemmig completed her medical studies at the University of Fribourg and Bern and completed them with stays abroad at the Yonsei University Hospital, Dep. of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Prof. Park and Lee) in Seoul, South Korea, among others.

After several years of training in general surgery, she completed her specialist training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at the Cantonal Hospital Aarau under Prof. Meuli and graduated in 2015 with a degree in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Meuli and completed her specialist training in 2015.

From 2015 to 2018 she worked as a senior physician in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Inselspital Bern (Prof. Constantinescu).

Dr. med. Kim obtained the European specialist title in plastic surgery (EBOPRAS) in 2012 and the Swiss specialist title in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery FMH in 2015.

She is married and the mother of two children. German and Korean are her mother tongues; she is fluent in English and French.

Prof Dr. Kalbermatten studied in Bern (MD), Boston, Manchester (MPhil) and Umea (PhD). He trained as a plastic surgeon in Bern, Lucerne, Basel, Manchester and Lausanne. Since 2008, he has held the university teaching license for plastic surgery at the University of Basel. Dr. Kalbermatten has been practising in Bern since 2004 and at the Klinik im Spiegel since 2009.
