Emergencies and acute eye diseases: ( short-term appointments can be made for emergencies)

The following symptoms require immediate examination by an ophthalmologist:

• Sudden loss of vision

• Seeing a bar or shadow (e.g., in the case of retinal detachment)

• Seeing bright flashes or black spots and threads. These are symptoms of posterior vitreous detachment, which can lead to a retinal tear. To prevent subsequent retinal detachment, a simple laser treatment is necessary in the practice.

• Straight lines that suddenly appear wavy or curved

• Acute double vision

• A painful eye

• A severely reddened, sticky, festering, swollen eye

• Foreign bodies (e.g., fine metal splinters from grinding) must be removed before a rust reaction or infection occurs.

Outpatient eye surgery:

The AugenCentrum Zytglogge has an in-house clinic that was built specifically for outpatient eye surgery. Modern eye surgery has developed into an extremely minimally invasive procedure, meaning that the vast majority of operations can be performed on an outpatient basis. A modern day clinic is better equipped to meet the new requirements of outpatient eye surgery than most hospitals.

At the AugenCentrum Zytologie, patients are also cared for in the clinic by their trusted practice assistants. In a pleasant environment, they contribute greatly to a calming atmosphere. Thanks to optimized and entertaining procedures, patients can be back home after just a few hours.
