With a population of over 17,000, Thônex is the 7th most populous commune in the canton of Geneva (Switzerland). Its territory covers 382 hectares at the gateway to Haute-Savoie, close to the town of Annemasse. With its peri-urban character, the commune offers great facilities in terms of shopping, cultural and leisure activities.

Armoirie de Thônex :

"Azure to  the Cross engrailed argent cantered by four oak leaves or". These compositional arms were adopted by the Municipal Council on June 29, 1923 and adopted by the State Council on August 7, 1923.

The engrailed cross is borrowed from the seals of Jean de Villette (1531) and Germain de Villette (1548).

The four oak leaves, by their number, recall the four hamlets of the commune:

2. Villette
3. Moillesulaz
4. Fossard

They also evoke the former union with the commune of Chêne-Bourg.
