Mairie de Thônex Guichet communal

With a population of over 17,000, Thônex is the seventh most populous municipality in the canton of Geneva (Switzerland). It covers an area of 382 hectares at the gateway to Haute-Savoie, near the town of Annemasse. With its suburban character, the municipality offers a wide range of amenities in terms of shops, cultural activities, and leisure pursuits.

Coat of arms of Thônex:

"Azure with a silver cross engrailed flanked by four golden oak leaves." These arms were adopted by the Municipal Council on June 29, 1923, and by the State Council on August 7, 1923.

The cross is borrowed from the seals of Jean de Villette (1531) and Germain de Villette (1548).

The four oak leaves represent the four hamlets of the municipality:

1. Thônex
2. Villette
3. Moillesulaz
4. Fossard

They also evoke the former union with the municipality of Chêne-Bourg.
